1 · POSITION
The sources are consistent: Alex and Carrie Vik are the creators, designers and visionaries behind the retreats, and the husband-and-wife duo design and curate every room across all six properties themselves. She is quoted on the work with the artists and on why South America reads as a frontier to North American and European guests.
2 · ⚑ WHY THIS ENTRY EXISTS
This is the seventh time in one working week the Library has had to add a woman named in the founding account and absent from its own pages — after Marguerite Boucicaut, the Carita sisters, Nathalie Bouchon-Poiroux, Helen Badrutt, Jyotsna Suri and Radha Bhatia. Seven is not a run of oversights, it is a bias in how the register was compiled, and naming it is the only way to stop repeating it.
3 · ⚑ WHAT IS NOT ESTABLISHED
Her origins, dates and training are not established here. The entry rests on her documented role as co-creator and co-curator, and says so.
