1 · Opening
Forte dei Marmi has had bathing establishments for a century. Twiga, opened in 2001, made one of them famous outside Italy.
2 · Why it matters
Two reasons, and the Library records both without preferring either.
The first is commercial: Twiga applied brand logic to the Versilia bagno — a name, a look, a restaurant of genuine ambition and a nightlife arc — and then moved it to Monte-Carlo ⚑, demonstrating that the Italian coastal format could travel.
The second is that its founders were public figures whose visibility became part of the product. Where most houses in this section are known for a place or a family, Twiga has been known for its owners.
3 · Signature & ritual
White loungers in ranks, a restaurant that takes itself seriously, and an evening that turns the beach into a club. In Versilia terms it is a bagno with the volume raised.
4 · What this house does not solve
A house identified with public figures inherits their weather. Beach-concession policy, tax and political controversy in Italy have repeatedly attached to this name, and a satellite house cannot answer questions of that kind through hospitality ⚑ specifics documented in Italian press.
Fame of the owner is borrowed authority: it fills a house quickly and leaves with the owner.
And the Versilia model does not travel as easily as its exports suggest. What reads as glamour on an Italian beach with a century of bagno culture behind it reads as a nightclub with sand elsewhere.

“The Bagno That Became News” — Versilia has had bathing establishments for a hundred years. One of them acquired owners famous enough that the beach began appearing on the front pages rather than the travel pages.
