1 · POSITION
Kerzner International is the company connecting several highly visible hospitality identities, including Atlantis and One&Only. Its work encompasses the development and operation of resorts and hotels, while the brands make different promises to guests. Reading the company alongside its destinations explains how distinct forms of hospitality can emerge from a shared corporate organisation. [2, 4]
2 · DIFFERENT REASONS TO TRAVEL
Kerzner's brand presentation separates Atlantis, with its large resort and entertainment proposition, from One&Only's collection of individual destinations. The distinction concerns the experience being organised, rather than simply a change of name. A guest may travel for a concentration of attractions or for the particular setting and character of a hotel within a more dispersed collection. [2]
3 · A CHANGE IN CONTROL
Investment Corporation of Dubai records taking control of Kerzner International Holdings in 2014. Contemporary reporting placed the transaction alongside founder Sol Kerzner's departure from the chairmanship. This is an important change in the company's institutional history: the founder's accumulated reputation and the later shareholder structure belong to different stages of the business. [1, 3]
4 · ADDITIONAL HOSPITALITY BRIEFS
SIRO and Rare Finds broaden the published brand family. SIRO organises its proposition around sleep, fitness, recovery, nutrition and mindfulness; Rare Finds presents individually characterised properties. These additions give the company further ways to define a stay, from maintaining personal routines while travelling to experiencing a hotel whose local identity is central to its appeal. [2]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ Control of Kerzner does not establish ownership of every building operated under one of its brands. Individual properties can involve separate investors and agreements. Nor should a brand directory be treated as a list of completed hotels: operating destinations and future projects must be distinguished. The company's relevance rests on development, brand creation and operation, with each property's ownership requiring its own evidence. [1–3]
