Baha Mar

Baha Mar is not a hotel brand in the conventional sense. It is a $5.2 billion integrated resort on Nassau's Cable Beach that brings three internationally distinct hotel brands — Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood — into one shared destination. Guests choose a hotel identity, while casino, golf, Baha Bay, dining, art, conservation, pools, beach and much of the entertainment belong to the larger Baha Mar world.

Cable Beach — The Master Asset

Baha Mar occupies one of Nassau's historic resort coastlines. Its value begins with white sand and turquoise Bahamian water, but the development deliberately adds an urban-scale concentration of hospitality infrastructure. It is both beachfront escape and major Nassau entertainment district.

The Ambition

Baha Mar was conceived as a transformational national tourism project rather than a single hotel. Its financing, construction and eventual rescue made it one of the Caribbean's most ambitious resort developments. The current official description values the integrated resort, casino, waterpark and residential development at $5.2 billion.

A Difficult Birth

The original project stalled before its intended 2015 opening amid financial distress and bankruptcy proceedings. The operating resort that emerged in 2017 was therefore the result of restructuring and a new ownership chapter, not a straightforward development timeline.

Chow Tai Fook Enterprises

In December 2016 the Bahamian government announced the sale of Baha Mar to Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. Current Baha Mar privacy and legal materials identify CTF BM Operations Ltd. as the operating entity together with related affiliates.

21 April 2017 — Phased Opening

Baha Mar began its phased opening on 21 April 2017. The first phase included the casino hotel operation, casino, convention centre, golf course and an initial portion of Grand Hyatt rooms. SLS followed later in 2017 and Rosewood in 2018.

A Luxury of Choice

Baha Mar's master proposition is A Luxury of Choice. Instead of forcing one identity across thousands of rooms, Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood preserve their own service cultures and design languages while sharing destination-scale infrastructure.

Three Brands, Not Three Wings

Reservations, billing and hotel guest services are handled directly by the three hotel brands. They are operationally meaningful hotels, not decorative labels attached to identical towers. This distinction is central to understanding Baha Mar.

Grand Hyatt — The Large-Scale Core

Grand Hyatt is the volume engine of Baha Mar. Current official material lists 1,800 guestrooms including 230 suites. It serves families, conventions, groups, couples and premium leisure guests and provides the broadest access point into the destination.

The Reserve at Grand Hyatt

The Reserve provides a higher luxury layer with upgraded accommodation, dedicated concierge and butler services. It allows Grand Hyatt to retain high-spend guests who want the full Baha Mar ecosystem but need greater personalization.

Grand Hyatt and MICE

Grand Hyatt operates the Baha Mar Convention Center. Current Baha Mar material cites 200,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space, making conventions and group travel a structural pillar of the destination.

SLS Baha Mar — Lifestyle Layer

SLS brings a different emotional register: design-forward, playful, social and nightlife-driven. Current official material lists 297 rooms including 107 suites and residences. It is the lifestyle hotel, not simply a smaller Grand Hyatt.

SLS as Caribbean Lifestyle Resort

Baha Mar identifies SLS as the first SLS resort in the Caribbean. The hotel translates urban nightlife and high-design DNA into a beachfront setting through dedicated pools, cabanas, rooftop social spaces, BOND nightlife and chef-led restaurants.

Rosewood — The Luxury Apex

Rosewood is the clear luxury apex of the three-hotel system. Current official material describes 221 rooms, suites and villas, private beach access, exclusive pools, Sense spa and butler service in villas and one-bedroom suites and higher.

Residential-Style Luxury

Rosewood is intentionally calmer and more residential than the other hotels. Private outdoor living areas, gardens, lower-density guest environments and intuitive service allow it to compete with dedicated luxury resorts even though it sits inside a mega-development.

Three Hotels, Three Missions

The hierarchy is coherent: Grand Hyatt = broad modern luxury, family and MICE at scale. SLS = lifestyle, design, nightlife and social energy. Rosewood = refined residential luxury, privacy and highest-touch service.

Shared Infrastructure

The genius of Baha Mar is that each hotel can remain differentiated without individually financing every major amenity. Waterpark, casino, golf, conservation, racquet sports, dining and entertainment become shared infrastructure.

Baha Bay — 15 Acres

Baha Bay opened in 2021 and added a 15-acre beachfront luxury waterpark. Current official material highlights advanced slides, a water coaster, wave simulation, dining and a beach club. Resort guests receive unlimited access.

The Family Equation

Baha Bay materially strengthened Baha Mar against Atlantis Paradise Island. The resort gained a destination-scale family attraction capable of anchoring a full day while still allowing adults to access golf, spa, casino, beach clubs and dining.

Baha Mar Casino

The casino is a central economic and entertainment engine. Current official material describes more than 1,000 slot machines, 18 types of table games and live sports betting. Floor-to-ceiling windows facing Cable Beach distinguish it from the enclosed gaming-box model.

Club Blu

Club Blu is the separate Baha Mar Casino rewards programme. It should not be confused with hotel loyalty. Baha Mar has no single hotel points currency, but its casino has its own rewards layer.

Royal Blue Golf

Royal Blue is an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course. Baha Mar currently highlights it as the #1-ranked golf course in The Bahamas in Golfweek's 2025 ranking. The course moves from dunes and open views to limestone terrain and elevation changes.

Racquet and Active Luxury

The John McEnroe Tennis Center, pickleball, fitness, golf and water activities create an unusually broad active-luxury platform. Baha Mar functions as a complete leisure destination rather than a hotel campus.

45+ Restaurants, Bars and Lounges

Current official material presents more than 45 restaurants, bars and lounges. Fine dining, family meals, beach clubs, steakhouses, Asian concepts, Mediterranean restaurants, nightlife venues and Bahamian flavours coexist inside one destination.

Baha Mar as the Dining Brand

The culinary system is intentionally cross-brand. Guests are encouraged to move beyond their own hotel's restaurants. This weakens the traditional hotel F&B silo and makes Baha Mar itself the dining destination.

Culinary & Arts Festival

The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival turns food and art into destination programming. It gives Baha Mar cultural relevance beyond rooms, gaming and family leisure and strengthens shoulder-season demand.

Two Spa Worlds

Baha Mar effectively contains two wellness languages: ESPA for the broader integrated resort and Sense, A Rosewood Spa for the luxury enclave. This mirrors the overall architecture — shared scale plus brand-specific refinement.

The B.E.A.C.H. Sanctuary

The Baha Mar Ecological Aquatic Conservation Habitat combines marine-life education with guest-facing encounters. It gives the destination a conservation layer directly relevant to a resort built on Bahamian coastal ecology.

Conservation Center

The Conservation Center expands the educational mission through interactive programming focused on environmental challenges and solutions. It turns conservation into a visible guest experience.

Baha Mar Resort Foundation

The Foundation is built around Community, Culture and Conservation. Established in 2017, it provides a formal social-impact structure for the destination rather than leaving community engagement fragmented among the three hotel brands.

Sustainability Framework

Baha Mar's formal policy is organized around Responsible Business, Socio-cultural Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability, including energy, water, waste and community. For LHL, the importance is that sustainability is structured across shared services and hotel brands.

Art and Bahamian Identity

Baha Mar uses art, food, conservation and cultural programming to anchor a three-brand mega-resort in The Bahamas. Without this local layer, the development could easily feel like an imported global-hotel district.

Residences

Baha Mar includes a substantial residential component. Residences extend the destination from transient hospitality into ownership, long stays and branded living, reinforcing the economics of a resort conceived at district scale.

One Resort, Multiple Operating Systems

The guest sees one destination, but behind it sit several hospitality systems. Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood maintain separate reservation and service structures while Baha Mar operates shared infrastructure and services.

Loyalty — No Single Baha Mar Programme

There is no single Baha Mar hotel loyalty programme covering all three hotels. Loyalty follows the selected brand. Grand Hyatt participates in World of Hyatt. SLS Baha Mar is distributed through Accor and participates in ALL. Rosewood uses its own brand-recognition model rather than a mass points currency.

Loyalty Classification

For LHL, the most accurate field is Multi-program / Third-party by hotel: World of Hyatt — Grand Hyatt Baha Mar; ALL Accor — SLS Baha Mar; Rosewood — brand-specific recognition rather than a public points programme. Club Blu belongs separately under casino loyalty.

Why Fragmented Loyalty Works

Fragmented loyalty is consistent with the destination strategy. A Hyatt loyalist, an SLS/ALL guest and a Rosewood client can bring different global hospitality relationships into the same Baha Mar ecosystem.

Family Hospitality

Families benefit from Baha Bay, pools, beach, Explorers Club, wildlife experiences, mini golf, racquet sports and enormous dining choice. Grand Hyatt is the most obvious family base, while affluent families can upgrade into Rosewood without losing access to family infrastructure.

Lifestyle and Adult Travel

SLS, casino nightlife, rooftop bars, adults-only pool environments, beach clubs and culinary programming ensure Baha Mar is not defined only by families. The destination can shift from waterpark by day to high-energy nightlife after dark.

Luxury Positioning

Baha Mar is best understood as an Integrated Multi-Brand Luxury Destination Resort rather than a single luxury hotel. Rosewood sets the luxury ceiling, SLS provides the lifestyle expression, Grand Hyatt supplies scale and convention power, and the shared infrastructure is the true Baha Mar product.

What Distinguishes Baha Mar

THREE GLOBAL HOTEL BRANDS, ONE DESTINATION.

A LUXURY OF CHOICE. Different hospitality styles share one infrastructure.

ROSEWOOD AS LUXURY APEX.

SLS AS LIFESTYLE ENGINE.

GRAND HYATT AS SCALE AND MICE CORE.

BAHA BAY — 15-acre waterpark.

CASINO + GOLF + BEACH + ART + CONSERVATION.

45+ F&B VENUES.

MULTI-PROGRAM LOYALTY rather than one master scheme.

What the Model Does Not Solve

Baha Mar's greatest strength — choice — is also its complexity. Service consistency can never be perfectly uniform across three hotel cultures and shared resort operations. Guests must understand that Rosewood, SLS and Grand Hyatt are materially different products. A second challenge is scale: those seeking secluded, low-density Bahamian luxury may prefer smaller resorts.

Competitive landscape

Editorial Note

This entry reflects official Baha Mar, hotel-brand and Bahamian institutional information reviewed in August 2026. Baha Mar currently presents three hotels — Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood — sharing a $5.2 billion integrated resort on Cable Beach. Current Baha Mar figures list 1,800 rooms at Grand Hyatt, 297 at SLS and 221 at Rosewood. The resort has no single hotel loyalty programme; loyalty follows the individual hotel brand.
