1 · Position
A casino at Urca beneath the Sugarloaf, opened in 1930, part of the same Rio gambling era as the Copacabana Palace and ended by the same national prohibition.
2 · Why it is in the Library
⚑ It is held as a companion to LHL-S-181 Copacabana Palace Casino so that the prohibition can be seen for what it was: not a decision about one house but the closing of an entire national category overnight. That is rare enough to be worth the group.
3 · ⚑ Candour
The opening year, 1930, was already in the Library’s build; I wrote that it was unknown without looking. Ownership, the performers who worked there and what became of the building remain unestablished.
