1 · Opening
The Antinori family has made wine since 1385. In 1957 it opened a dining room in the courtyard of its Florentine palazzo to serve the estate's wine with the estate's food.
2 · Why it matters
This is the oldest continuous family business in the Library by a wide margin — twenty-six generations ⚑ — and the restaurant is the point where that agricultural history meets hospitality.
The model has since been copied across Tuscany and the wine world generally: the estate that also feeds you. What distinguishes the original is that the hospitality was never the business. It is an expression of the wine, which is why the menu is short and the list is not.
The Library records the type — the wine dynasty's table — with this house as its reference, alongside the Ferragamo estates and Il Borro in the main register.
3 · Signature & ritual
Tuscan cooking of deliberate simplicity; the palazzo courtyard; a wine list that is effectively a family archive.
4 · What this house does not solve
A restaurant that exists to serve one estate's wine is, by design, not a place to explore anyone else's.
International locations ⚑ separate the dining room from the vineyard that justifies it, which is the whole argument.
And a hospitality business inside an agricultural house will always be a minor line item — well funded, and never the priority.

7 · LHL story
“Twenty-Six Generations” — The oldest family business in this Library is not a hotel, a restaurant or a maison. It is a vineyard that has been operating since 1385 — and in 1957 it decided to serve lunch.
