Contribution to hospitalityThe southern French lunch exported as a year-round luxury format

1 · Opening

La Petite Maison began in Nice as a neighbourhood restaurant. The London version, opened in 2007, took the cooking, the tomato salad and the no-reservations-after-a-certain-hour informality and turned them into an international brand.

2 · Why it matters

The house exports something the beach clubs of this Part sell in situ: the Mediterranean afternoon. Its clientele is the same one — the Riviera in summer, the Gulf in winter — and the menu barely changes between cities because the point is recognition.

Its position also demonstrates a pattern the Library keeps finding: the original house stays modest while the export becomes the brand. Nice remains a restaurant; LPM is a company.

Development under Lapérouse Holding ⚑ places it inside the French maison-consolidation story recorded at S-040.

3 · Signature & ritual

Burrata and tomatoes, prawns in olive oil, whole roast chicken; long lunches; a room designed to be loud by two o'clock.

4 · What this house does not solve

The format is simple enough to imitate precisely, and it has been, in every market it entered.

A menu that does not change between cities is a strength for recognition and a weakness everywhere with a serious local produce culture.

And ownership complexity ⚑ — an original in Nice, a company in London, a French holding developing it — makes the question of what LPM actually is harder to answer each year.

7 · LHL story

“The Afternoon, Exported” — The beach clubs of this Part sell the Mediterranean lunch where it happens. One restaurant packed it up and sold it in Mayfair, Dubai and Miami — to the same people, in the other half of the year.
