1 · WHY SHE MATTERS

Marta Seco belongs in the Luxury Hospitality Library as a co-founder and hospitality entrepreneur behind Grupo Paraguas. She should not be treated merely as an adjunct to Sandro Silva. Official Paraguas and d.ream materials consistently present Silva and Seco together as the restaurateurs behind the group and its concepts. For LHL, her appropriate place is Group IX - Culinary & Social Hospitality Authors / Entrepreneurs.

2 · A CO-FOUNDER STORY

Grupo Paraguas is fundamentally a partnership story. Silva and Seco built a sequence of restaurants with distinct identities rather than simply repeating one successful formula. This joint authorship is why LHL should preserve two individual People cards while cross-linking both to the parent Paraguas Group entry.

3 · EL PARAGUAS - 2004

El Paraguas opened in Madrid in 2004 and became the foundation of the restaurant group. The restaurant established the commercial and hospitality base from which the later portfolio developed. For Seco's biography, this is the founding act: a successful Madrid restaurant became the starting point for a much broader social-hospitality business.

4 · FROM RESTAURANT TO PORTFOLIO

The group's subsequent development moved beyond one cuisine and one atmosphere. Ten con Ten, Ultramarinos Quintín, Amazónico, Numa Pompilio and Aarde created different environments for different occasions while addressing a broadly affluent urban audience. Seco's importance lies in helping build this portfolio logic and the business organisation behind it.

5 · TEN CON TEN

Ten con Ten became one of the defining restaurants of modern Madrid social dining. The concept combines restaurant and bar with a strong see-and-be-seen dimension, turning the room itself into part of the experience. It demonstrates Grupo Paraguas's ability to understand social behaviour as a hospitality product.

6 · ULTRAMARINOS QUINTÍN

Ultramarinos Quintín introduced a different visual and culinary language while remaining recognisably part of the group's affluent Madrid universe. The concept shows why Paraguas is better understood as a creator of hospitality environments than as a single restaurant brand. For Seco, the accumulation of distinct concepts is more important than attribution to one signature dish or cuisine.

7 · AMAZÓNICO

Amazónico became the group's principal international concept and the clearest expression of its immersive social-hospitality model. Food, cocktails, lush interiors, music and nightlife-adjacent energy operate together as one experience. The restaurant's success moved the founders from Madrid restaurateurs into the international luxury hospitality conversation.

8 · THE IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENT

Grupo Paraguas restaurants place exceptional weight on environment and atmosphere. Interior design, bars, lighting, circulation and music are used to shape how guests interact with one another throughout the evening. This makes Seco's hospitality authorship entrepreneurial and experiential rather than narrowly culinary.

9 · D.REAM PARTNERSHIP - 2016

d.ream International states that it partnered with Paraguas Group in 2016 to support international expansion. The partnership connected the founders' concept-development capability with the wider Doğuş restaurant and hospitality investment ecosystem. For LHL, Seco and Silva remain the concept founders; d.ream belongs at the investment and international-expansion layer.

10 · LONDON & DUBAI - 2019

Amazónico expanded to London and Dubai in 2019. These openings transformed the concept from a Madrid success into an international restaurant brand and tested whether its atmosphere could travel across very different luxury markets. London supplied global restaurant visibility; Dubai provided one of the world's most concentrated luxury social-dining environments.

11 · MONTE CARLO & MIAMI

Amazónico's subsequent presence in Monte Carlo and Miami extended the concept into resort and leisure markets with strong luxury-travel demand. The geographic pattern is important: Grupo Paraguas is not expanding indiscriminately, but into cities and destinations where high-spend social dining is already part of the hospitality ecosystem. This is increasingly similar to the destination strategy of global luxury hotel and restaurant brands.

12 · NUMA POMPILIO & AARDE

Numa Pompilio and Aarde broaden the portfolio beyond the group's earliest concepts. They demonstrate continued willingness to create new restaurant worlds rather than depend entirely on Amazónico's international success. This creative plurality supports Seco's classification as a hospitality entrepreneur rather than simply co-owner of one famous restaurant.

13 · BUSINESS AUTHORS BEHIND THE ROOM

Luxury restaurant histories often privilege chefs, but modern social hospitality depends equally on founders who shape concept, investment, location, design, service and audience. Seco's relevance lies in this broader form of authorship. She helped create the business conditions in which the restaurants could become social institutions.

14 · MARTA SECO VS. SANDRO SILVA

The two founders should be read together but not collapsed into one biography. Silva's Brazilian origin provides an especially visible narrative link to Amazónico's concept, while Seco's card is better centred on co-founding, portfolio development and entrepreneurial hospitality authorship. The distinction avoids inventing unsupported individual creative credits while still recognising Seco's independent historical significance.

15 · PARTNERSHIP & SCALING

The move from Madrid to an international network required different capabilities from opening the first restaurant. Site selection, partners, local operating teams, supply chains, design execution and brand consistency become increasingly important as a concept scales. Seco's historical importance includes participation in this transition from founder-led restaurants to an international hospitality platform.

16 · LUXURY SOCIAL DINING

Grupo Paraguas belongs to the same broad transformation represented by Zuma, Hakkasan, Nobu and COYA: the restaurant becomes an evening-long social destination. Food remains central, but the bar, design, music, service and crowd are also part of what the guest is buying. This category is one of the principal reasons LHL's Satellites section is necessary.

17 · CONNECTION TO DOĞUŞ

The d.ream partnership creates a direct link between Paraguas and the Doğuş hospitality ecosystem. This connection should be cross-linked to Ferit Şahenk, Doğuş Group Hospitality Investments and relevant restaurant-group entries. The relationship also illustrates how restaurant founders can retain creative identity while working with a larger international investment and expansion platform.

18 · WHAT THIS MODEL DOES NOT SOLVE

Co-founder histories are difficult to write precisely because public materials often describe achievements collectively rather than assigning individual responsibilities. LHL should therefore avoid inventing a division of creative labour between Seco and Silva that the sources do not establish. International expansion also creates the familiar social-dining risk: a restaurant atmosphere can become formulaic when reproduced across cities.

19 · LHL ASSESSMENT

Marta Seco merits a separate LHL People entry. Her significance is supported not by celebrity but by repeated co-founder attribution across the restaurant group that produced El Paraguas, Ten con Ten and Amazónico. Recognising her separately also makes the People Series more accurate: major hospitality businesses are often co-authored, even when one partner receives more public attention.

20 · TIMELINE

2004 - Marta Seco and Sandro Silva open El Paraguas in Madrid. 2000s-2010s - Grupo Paraguas expands through Ten con Ten, Ultramarinos Quintín and other Madrid concepts. 2010s - Amazónico emerges as the group's defining international concept. 2016 - d.ream International partners with Paraguas Group for international expansion. 2019 - Amazónico opens in London and Dubai. 2020s - Amazónico expands to additional luxury markets including Monte Carlo and Miami; the wider portfolio continues developing. 2026 - Seco remains historically central as co-founder of Grupo Paraguas and co-author of its transformation into an international social-hospitality platform.

21 · CONCLUSION

Marta Seco's place in LHL is the place of the co-founder. Beginning with El Paraguas, she and Sandro Silva built a portfolio that helped redefine Madrid social dining and later produced Amazónico as an international luxury hospitality concept. Her authorship is best described as entrepreneurial and experiential: building restaurant environments, brands and a portfolio capable of scaling beyond one city. For LHL, treating Seco as a separate person rather than a footnote to her co-founder gives the history of Grupo Paraguas the structure the sources actually support.
