1 · WHY HE MATTERS

Sandro Silva belongs in the Luxury Hospitality Library because Grupo Paraguas helped reshape the relationship between restaurant, bar, design and social life in contemporary Madrid, and Amazónico subsequently carried that hospitality language into international luxury markets. His importance is not limited to cuisine. The concepts associated with Silva and Marta Seco are designed as complete social environments in which food, drinks, interiors, music and the crowd itself become part of the product. For LHL, he belongs in Group IX - Culinary & Social Hospitality Authors.

2 · A BRAZILIAN PERSPECTIVE IN MADRID

d.ream International's Paraguas Group profile identifies Silva as Brazilian and connects his origins particularly strongly to the later Amazónico concept. That background became one ingredient in a restaurant portfolio developed primarily from Madrid rather than a literal attempt to reproduce Brazilian restaurants abroad. The result is cosmopolitan hospitality: cultural references are translated into highly designed social experiences for an international audience.

3 · MARTA SECO - CO-FOUNDER

Silva's hospitality story is inseparable from Marta Seco, his co-founder and partner in Grupo Paraguas. The pair should nevertheless receive separate LHL People cards because their shared business represents two individual forms of entrepreneurial authorship rather than one anonymous family entry. Official group and partner materials consistently present Silva and Seco together as the restaurateurs behind the concepts.

4 · EL PARAGUAS - 2004

El Paraguas opened in Madrid in 2004 and became the foundation of Grupo Paraguas. The restaurant established the first chapter of the group's hospitality identity before the later expansion into more overtly social and internationally scalable concepts. For LHL, El Paraguas is important historically even if Amazónico ultimately became the group's more globally recognisable name.

5 · BUILDING A RESTAURANT GROUP

After El Paraguas, Silva and Seco developed a portfolio of distinct concepts rather than replicating one restaurant repeatedly. d.ream's group profile lists El Paraguas, Ten con Ten, Ultramarinos Quintín, Amazónico, Numa Pompilio and Aarde as the core concepts of the partnership era. This portfolio approach places Grupo Paraguas closer to Azumi than to a single Culinary Maison.

6 · TEN CON TEN

Ten con Ten became one of the group's defining Madrid social restaurants. Its importance lies in the combination of dining, bar and a see-and-be-seen atmosphere that helped turn the restaurant into a social destination rather than simply a place to eat. The concept demonstrates the group's understanding that luxury hospitality can be built around the energy of the room as much as around formal culinary ceremony.

7 · ULTRAMARINOS QUINTÍN

Ultramarinos Quintín introduced another style of hospitality into the portfolio, combining market references, produce and restaurant experience in a highly designed Madrid setting. Its role shows the group's ability to vary mood and format while retaining an affluent urban audience. This diversity reduces dependence on one visual or culinary formula.

8 · AMAZÓNICO - MADRID

Amazónico became the group's most important international concept. The Madrid original combines Latin American and tropical references with sushi, grill, cocktails, music and immersive interiors, creating a restaurant that operates simultaneously as dining room, bar and social spectacle. d.ream explicitly connects Silva's Brazilian origins to the inspiration behind the concept.

9 · JUNGLE AS HOSPITALITY THEATRE

Amazónico's success depends heavily on environmental storytelling. Lush interiors, layered lighting, bars, music and the Jungle Jazz Club create a sense of entering a separate world rather than merely visiting a restaurant. This immersive approach is central to modern luxury social dining, where the room must generate memories independently of the menu.

10 · PARTNERSHIP WITH D.REAM - 2016

d.ream International states that it partnered with Paraguas Group in 2016 to support international expansion. The partnership is strategically important because it connects Silva and Seco's restaurant authorship to the larger Doğuş hospitality and lifestyle ecosystem. For LHL, ownership and authorship should remain separate: Paraguas created the concepts, while d.ream became an expansion and investment partner.

11 · LONDON & DUBAI - 2019

d.ream records 2019 as the year Amazónico expanded to London and Dubai. These two markets were ideal tests for the concept: London offered global restaurant credibility, while Dubai offered a luxury-hospitality ecosystem exceptionally receptive to high-energy destination dining. The successful internationalisation demonstrated that Amazónico's social language could travel beyond Madrid.

12 · MONTE CARLO & MIAMI

Amazónico's current official website also lists Monte Carlo and Miami, extending the brand across European resort luxury and the American social-dining market. These destinations reinforce the concept's compatibility with luxury travel rather than purely local restaurant culture. The geography resembles that of an international luxury hospitality brand: capital cities, resort enclaves and high-spend leisure markets.

13 · NUMA POMPILIO & AARDE

Numa Pompilio and Aarde demonstrate the continued diversification of Grupo Paraguas. They allow the founders to work with different culinary and design references while remaining inside the broad territory of sophisticated social hospitality. For the LHL People card, their significance is cumulative: Silva's authorship is visible through a portfolio, not only through one global hit.

14 · DESIGN AS OPERATING STRATEGY

Grupo Paraguas restaurants rely heavily on interior design to control mood, movement and social visibility. Design is therefore not a cosmetic layer applied after the menu is created. It determines how guests circulate, where they see one another, how the bar interacts with dining and how the room evolves during the evening. This places Silva within a generation of restaurateurs who treat space itself as a hospitality instrument.

15 · MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE ADJACENCY

Amazónico in particular uses music and live performance to extend the restaurant toward nightlife without becoming a conventional nightclub. Jungle Jazz Club makes that relationship explicit. The ability to occupy the territory between dinner and nightlife is one of the reasons the concept works so effectively in luxury cities and resort destinations.

16 · LUXURY WITHOUT FINE-DINING FORMALITY

Like Zuma, Grupo Paraguas concepts demonstrate that luxury dining no longer requires traditional fine-dining ceremony. Guests can experience expensive food, sophisticated service, ambitious interiors and high social energy in a less formal environment. This shift is one of the defining changes in twenty-first-century luxury hospitality.

17 · SILVA VS. BECKER

Rainer Becker provides a useful comparison. Becker's Zuma emerged from chef training and deep experience in Japanese food culture. Silva's work is more entrepreneurial and concept-led, using broader Latin, Mediterranean and cosmopolitan references. Both helped establish the restaurant as a social destination with international luxury-hospitality relevance.

18 · CONNECTION TO LUXURY HOTELS & DESTINATIONS

Paraguas concepts increasingly operate in the same geographic and commercial universe as luxury hotels. Even when a restaurant is not physically inside a hotel, it can become part of the destination's luxury infrastructure, shaping where hotel guests dine and socialise. This is why Silva's work belongs in LHL rather than in a narrowly culinary history.

19 · WHAT THIS MODEL DOES NOT SOLVE

Immersive social restaurants face the risk that design spectacle overwhelms culinary identity. International expansion can also turn an atmosphere built around a particular Madrid audience into a formula reproduced mechanically across cities. Finally, founder and investor roles can become blurred after partnerships. LHL should continue distinguishing the creative authorship of Silva and Seco from the ownership and expansion roles of partners such as d.ream.

20 · LHL ASSESSMENT

Sandro Silva clearly merits a separate LHL People entry. El Paraguas gives him historical foundation, Ten con Ten demonstrates influence on Madrid social dining, and Amazónico provides the international case. Together they show an author who helped transform restaurants into immersive luxury social environments.

21 · TIMELINE

2004 - Sandro Silva and Marta Seco open El Paraguas in Madrid. 2000s-2010s - Grupo Paraguas expands through additional Madrid concepts including Ten con Ten and Ultramarinos Quintín. 2010s - Amazónico opens in Madrid and becomes the group's defining international concept. 2016 - d.ream International partners with Paraguas Group for international expansion. 2019 - Amazónico expands to London and Dubai. 2020s - Amazónico extends to additional luxury markets including Monte Carlo and Miami; the wider Paraguas portfolio continues developing. 2026 - Silva remains historically central to Grupo Paraguas and to Amazónico's international luxury social-dining identity.

22 · CONCLUSION

Sandro Silva's contribution to hospitality is the creation of restaurants that behave like destinations. Beginning with El Paraguas and developing through Ten con Ten and Amazónico, he and Marta Seco built environments where cuisine, design, bar culture, music and social visibility are inseparable. Amazónico then proved that this language could travel internationally with the help of d.ream. For LHL, Silva is therefore not simply a restaurateur. He is one of the authors of the immersive luxury social-dining format that now forms an important satellite layer around global luxury hospitality.
