THE ACT
Anton Pinsky came out of nightclubs. He co-founded Sagrado, a holding that runs more than ten Moscow venues including Stadium Live, Gipsy and Izvestia Hall, and only afterwards built Pinskiy&Co into a restaurant company of some thirty houses across Moscow, St Petersburg and Sochi, many in partnership with Arkady Novikov.
At Esto-Sadok in Krasnaya Polyana he took the Dovlatov, a five-storey house of thirty-nine rooms, and reopened it under his own name, with a spa, a library, a year-round open-air pool on the roof facing the mountains, and the Loona restaurant on the ground floor.
WHY IT MATTERS
Almost every operator in this Library moved in the opposite direction. A hotel opens a restaurant; a restaurant group is bought by a hotel group; a chef is installed in a dining room somebody else built. Pinsky went the other way — clubs first, then tables, then rooms — and holds all three under one ownership.
That sequence is the argument of Part X Groups VIII and IX stated by a single career. Nightlife is not an amenity attached to hospitality; it is a discipline capable of producing hospitality, and the Sochi house is what it produced.
Loona is the mechanism. The restaurant runs in Moscow, Dubai, Sochi, Yerevan and now Krasnaya Polyana, and the hotel opened with one on its ground floor rather than with a hotel restaurant. The brand arrives first and the building follows it.
CANDOUR
The scale is national rather than international. Pinskiy&Co is among the largest restaurant companies in Russia and holds one hotel; the model has not yet been reproduced by anyone else, which is the ordinary test this register applies.
Much of the portfolio is held in partnership with Arkady Novikov, whose own career is longer, and separating the authorship of individual houses is not possible from the public record.
The year the Dovlatov became the Pinskiy is not established from a dated source and is carried as claimed.
