Shedir Collection is a young Italian luxury hospitality house built around six highly individual boutique properties in Rome and Capri. Five are concentrated in the historic centre of Rome; the sixth, Capri Tiberio Palace, gives the collection a resort expression on one of the Mediterranean's most established luxury islands. The group does not impose a single visual template. Instead, it connects markedly different houses through residential interiors, art and design, central locations and a service philosophy that stresses intimacy, authenticity and a sense of being at home.
The Brand
Shedir Collection was created in 2021, initially bringing together Capri Tiberio Palace and Hotel Vilòn. The portfolio subsequently expanded with Maalot Hotel, Umiltà 36, Palazzo Roma and Palazzo Shedir. By August 2026 the official collection comprises six operating properties: five in Rome and one in Capri.
The name is inspired by Shedir, a star in the constellation Cassiopeia, and the collection itself uses the image of six stars with different personalities. This is more than a naming device: each hotel is deliberately presented as a separate character rather than a standardized expression of one brand. Vilòn is discreet and intimate; Maalot is contemporary and eclectic; Umiltà 36 mixes retro references with modern Roman energy; Palazzo Roma works as an aristocratic city residence; Palazzo Shedir occupies the noble wing of Palazzo Borghese; Capri Tiberio Palace translates the model into colorful Mediterranean resort luxury.
Philosophy
The official philosophy combines beauty and elegance with authenticity, tradition with innovation, and professional service with the warmth of a private home. Shedir repeatedly describes its desired hospitality as sincere, spontaneous, tailored and emotionally engaging. The objective is not simply to provide a luxurious room in a central location, but to create a residential atmosphere in which the guest develops a sense of belonging.
This philosophy also explains the collection's design diversity. Different designers and different historical buildings are not forced into a common corporate aesthetic. The unifying element is the quality of the environment and the relationship between contemporary design, Italian decorative culture, art and the individual building.
What Distinguishes It
ROME AS A COLLECTION. Few independent luxury groups have built such a dense portfolio in the historic centre of one city. Shedir's five Roman houses allow it to offer several distinct interpretations of Rome without leaving the collection.
RESIDENTIAL SCALE. Even the larger properties are conceived around the language of a private residence rather than a conventional international hotel. At the extreme end, Palazzo Shedir contains only four bedrooms and can be taken for exclusive use.
DIFFERENT HOUSES, NOT DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF ONE HOUSE. Shedir explicitly gives each property its own identity. The brand architecture depends on difference rather than repetition.
ART AND DESIGN. Contemporary art, bespoke furnishings, historic frescoes, marble, textiles and decorative craft are integral to the guest environment. The approach ranges from the playful retro language of Capri Tiberio Palace to the preserved Roman Baroque of Palazzo Shedir.
ITALIAN HOSPITALITY AS OPERATING IDEA. The collection's recurring promise is not formality for its own sake but sincere, empathetic and highly personalized service.
Who It Is Not For
Shedir Collection is not designed for travellers who value a large global network, predictable chain standards or an extensive loyalty ecosystem above the personality of an individual hotel. The collection is geographically concentrated and intentionally heterogeneous. Guests looking for a full-scale resort with extensive recreational infrastructure will find only part of that experience at Capri; the Roman houses are primarily intimate city hotels and residences. Equally, travellers who prefer minimalist anonymity may find Shedir's decorative, art-led and highly authored interiors too expressive.

Editorial Note
Portfolio composition, official positioning and contact details were reviewed in August 2026 against Shedir Collection's official website and collection material. The official site lists six properties: Capri Tiberio Palace, Hotel Vilòn, Maalot Hotel, Umiltà 36, Palazzo Shedir and Palazzo Roma. The 2021 creation date is supported by hospitality-industry documentation describing Capri Tiberio Palace and Vilòn as the first two collection hotels. Eduardo Safdie is identified as the entrepreneur behind the group in contemporary Italian hospitality coverage; because the current official Shedir website does not prominently state a founder, that attribution should be treated as externally documented rather than an official brand claim. Leaders Club applies only to participating LHW properties, including Capri Tiberio Palace and Palazzo Shedir as verified in August 2026.
