Romeo Collection

The ROMEO Collection is a small Italian hotel group with two houses open, in Naples and Rome, and a third announced on the Amalfi Coast. Wallpaper* names Alfredo Romeo as "founder of the Romeo Collection"; Elite Traveler calls him "president and CEO". Forbes Italia describes him as a lawyer and entrepreneur who began in property in Naples in the 1970s and founded Romeo Gestioni in 1981, a firm managing public real estate. The collection itself is recent as a name: in February 2023 Italiabsolutely reported the Naples hotel as "becoming a Collection". The group's own architecture page assigns one celebrated practice to each house — Kenzo Tange & Associates in Naples, Zaha Hadid Architects in Rome, Kengo Kuma & Associates at Massa Lubrense. Naples: The Harbour House

Business Traveller, in December 2011, states that the Naples hotel "opened in autumn 2008", designed "by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange and his son Paul". In March 2009 the same title reported it as Naples' first Design Hotel, keeping the shell of a building "formerly the headquarters of a shipping company" behind a new glass façade. The group's own page names that company: the building was "formerly the historic headquarters of the Lauro Fleet". Room counts differ with the date: 85 rooms and suites in 2009, 59 rooms and 24 suites in 2011, 79 in 2023. Forbes Italia quotes Romeo calling the house "una macchina urbana". [6,7,8,9,12]

Rome: Ten Years In A Palazzo

ROMEO Roma stands near Piazza del Popolo in a palazzo of the late sixteenth century, which Italiabsolutely names as of the Serroberti-Capponi family. The opening was billed more than once. In May 2023 Global Traveler reported it would open "this October"; in October 2023 Elite Traveler moved it to "early 2024". The opening announcement on Hospitality Net is dated 8 January 2025, and Audi Magazine, in June 2025, says the hotel "opened in December" — December 2024 on that dating. Wallpaper*, in March 2025, gives the cause: "The discovery of an archaeological site mid-build caused delays in the project", which took "ten years to complete". The work was interiors only, by Zaha Hadid Architects, one of the last projects Hadid worked on before her death in 2016. The hotel has 74 rooms and suites, a restaurant under Alain Ducasse, a terrace with Krug, and La Spa Sisley Paris of nearly 13,000 square feet, whose pool has a transparent floor over Roman remains. Massa Lubrense: Announced, Not Open

The third house is announced, not open. The group's site lists it as "Coming Soon". It has been promised for 2024 (Global Traveler, 2023) and for 2025 (Hospitality Net, January 2025). Dissapore, on 9 September 2026, reports it at Punta San Lorenzo, by Kengo Kuma & Associates, with 63 rooms and suites, villas, a spa and a beach club, and an opening estimated "tra la fine del 2026 e la primavera del 2027". The same report says the three-Michelin-star restaurant Quattro Passi, closed at Nerano after a judicial seizure on 30 January 2026, will reopen there under the ROMEO group. [3,4,8,13]

Editorial note — ⚑ ROMEO Roma's opening is printed in two readings: billed for October 2023 ; announced open 8 January 2025 and dated to December 2024 by Audi Magazine [4,5]. Wallpaper* says "newly opened in 2025" . Hospitality Net's own boilerplate still lists Roma as "(2023)". ⚑ Elite Traveler gives Roma 76 rooms; every other source read gives 74 . ⚑ Naples' opening is autumn 2008 in Business Traveller and in the group's boilerplate; Luxury Travel Advisor writes that ROMEO Napoli "debuted in 2014" [6,10]. ⚑ Business Traveller in 2011 calls the Naples building "previously a publishing house", against the shipping-company and Lauro-fleet readings [6,7,8]. ⚑ No source read gives the collection a founding date; "founder" rests on Wallpaper* alone.
