Minor Reserve Collection

Minor Hotels announced Minor Reserve Collection on 10 July 2025 as one of four new brands created during a major expansion of its global brand architecture. It is the group's luxury soft brand: a vehicle for independent hotels whose rarity and individual identity are meant to remain more important than a repeated chain aesthetic. As of August 2026, no hotel is yet operating under the Minor Reserve Collection flag. Two signed projects define the brand's first development chapter: Hotel Palace Portorož in Slovenia, scheduled to relaunch in Q1 2027, and the new-build Aventora Resort Baía Formosa in Brazil, scheduled for 2028.

The Brand

Minor Reserve Collection was created after Minor Hotels reorganised its consumer masterbrand, digital distribution and loyalty architecture in 2025. The group explicitly describes the collection as a luxury soft brand for travellers seeking extraordinary stays that celebrate personal expression and refined distinction. Each property is intended to be 'a world of its own', selected because it offers something singular rather than because it conforms to a common design template. For owners, the proposition is equally important. Minor Hotels has identified collection brands as instruments for conversion-led growth in mature markets, particularly Europe and the Middle East. Independent owners can preserve local identity while gaining Minor's distribution, loyalty, marketing and operating platforms. Minor Reserve Collection therefore belongs to the same strategic family as The Luxury Collection, Unbound, Vignette and LXR, but it begins with the advantage — and risk — of being designed from scratch for the current soft-brand market.

Philosophy

The brand's founding language combines rarity, individuality and tailored hospitality. Minor says stays should balance innovation with time-honoured hospitality and be shaped by individual tastes, thoughtful attention to detail and the distinct spirit of each destination. That formulation is deliberately broad. It allows a historic Adriatic grand hotel and a low-density Brazilian coastal resort to coexist without pretending they should look alike. The real test will be whether Minor can turn 'rarity' into a meaningful selection standard rather than a generic luxury adjective.

What Distinguishes it

Born as a soft brand Minor Reserve Collection was not converted from an older hard flag. It was designed from launch for independent luxury properties and conversion-led growth. Rarity as the filter Minor repeatedly describes properties as chosen for rarity and singular character. If enforced, this gives the collection a stricter reason for membership than simple luxury compliance. Minor's unified platform Hotels can retain their identity while joining Minor Hotels' global website, distribution, commercial systems and Minor DISCOVERY loyalty architecture. Asset-right expansion Minor's current growth strategy combines ownership, leases, management and franchise agreements. The collection can therefore expand without requiring the group to own every hotel. No inherited visual code Because the brand is new, it has no historical architecture to imitate. Its identity will have to emerge from curation, service and the quality of its first houses.

Who it is Not For

Minor Reserve Collection is not yet a mature promise for travellers who want a proven network with decades of operating history. Until the first hotels relaunch, the brand remains a development proposition rather than an experienced hospitality system. Guests who value a known recurring service culture should judge the first houses individually rather than assume that the collection name already guarantees a settled product.

Signature Houses / Confirmed Pipeline

Hotel Palace Portorož · Portorož, Slovenia

The likely first operating house. Minor Hotels took over management in February 2026; after a refurbishment programme the historic Palace is scheduled to relaunch under Minor Reserve Collection in Q1 2027. Its established identity makes it a logical first test of the soft-brand proposition.

Aventora Resort Baía Formosa · Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil

The first property formally signed specifically under the new brand, announced in January 2026. The new-build resort will have 50 guestrooms and 28 branded residences, with gastronomy, spa, fitness, water sports and nature-led experiences on Brazil's northeastern coast. Why Portorož matters A historic Adriatic hotel tests whether Minor can preserve inherited local equity while adding a new collection layer. The property had previously operated under Kempinski, making the conversion especially useful for comparing brand architectures. Why Baía Formosa matters Aventora tests the opposite problem: creating a new hotel whose identity must feel singular from opening day rather than inheriting a century of history. It also introduces branded residences into the collection's development vocabulary.
