Maisons & Hôtels Sibuet

Maisons & Hôtels Sibuet began in 1989 when Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet assembled old alpine farm buildings into Les Fermes de Marie above Megève — the hotel that invented the ferme-de-luxe and reset Alpine style for a generation. The family collection grew through Megève's Mont-Blanc and Lodge Park, Lyon's Cour des Loges, Provence's Bastide de Marie, Ménerbes' vineyard house and Villa Marie Saint-Barth, with the Pure Altitude spa line threading the houses together. Two generations on, Sibuet remains the register's definitive French family mountain-and-sun collection.

The brand

The Sibuets built their collection from salvage and taste: Les Fermes de Marie's weathered timber came from dismantled Savoyard farms, and that vocabulary — old wood, homespun linens, mountain objects arranged with couture precision — became a style copied across the Alps. Megève holds the family's core: Fermes de Marie, the Hôtel Mont-Blanc's storied village institution and Lodge Park's clubby counterpart.

Beyond the mountains the family maps its own French seasons: Cour des Loges' Renaissance passages in Vieux Lyon, La Bastide de Marie among Provençal vines, Villa Grenache at Ménerbes and Villa Marie's tropical-chic Saint-Barth. Pure Altitude, the family's alpine-botanical spa brand, and serious kitchens across the houses complete a collection still owned, decorated and run by Sibuets.

Brand philosophy

The Sibuet philosophy is the maison de famille perfected: houses that feel inherited rather than designed, where luxury is texture, food and welcome rather than protocol. Jocelyne Sibuet's decorating hand — the mountain-farm romance done with fashion discipline — is the collection's signature asset.

Terroir hospitality is the second thread: each house feeds from its ground — alpage cheeses in Megève, the bastide's vines and olives, island fish at Villa Marie — and Pure Altitude bottles the mountains themselves into the family's own wellness line.

What distinguishes it

The ferme-de-luxe original. Les Fermes de Marie created the luxury-farmhouse genre; the Alps have been quoting it since 1989.

A family's France. Megève, Lyon, Provence, Ménerbes, Saint-Barth — the collection maps the Sibuets' own seasonal life.

Pure Altitude. The proprietary alpine-botanical spa brand extends the family taste into wellness product.

Salvage as style. Dismantled farm timber and mountain objects built an aesthetic copied industry-wide.

Second generation at the stove. Marie and Nicolas Sibuet carry ownership, kitchens and decoration forward personally.

WHO IT IS NOT FOR

Sibuet is a weak fit for travellers seeking palace ceremony, contemporary minimalism or an international network — the houses are textured, personal and French to the last object. Guests wanting ultra-tier staffing ratios or brand-point ecosystems should look to larger flags; Sibuet serves those who want France's mountain-and-sun art de vivre as one family lives it.
