Live Aqua began in Cancún in 2004 as Posadas' attempt to build a Mexican luxury lifestyle brand around sensory experience rather than conventional grand-hotel formality. The first house used scent, music, design, food and wellness as parts of one atmosphere; by 2013 Posadas was describing Live Aqua Cancún as its first lifestyle hotel. At 31 December 2025, Posadas reported five operating Live Aqua hotels with 1,073 rooms in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, while Live Aqua Residence Club was reported separately.
The Brand
Live Aqua is the principal sensorial-lifestyle luxury brand inside Grupo Posadas, the Mexican hotel company whose portfolio also includes Grand Fiesta Americana, Fiesta Americana, Curamoria, The Explorean, Fiesta Inn, Gamma and One. Posadas' current brand language calls Live Aqua a five-star collection of hotels, resorts and luxury residences built around warm Mexican service, design, gastronomy, music, aromatherapy and wellbeing. The operating hotel network is compact: Cancún, Mexico City, Monterrey, San Miguel de Allende and Punta Cana. Posadas' 2025 results report four Live Aqua hotels / 726 rooms in Mexico and one / 347 rooms internationally, for five / 1,073 rooms in total. Private residences in La Paz, Los Cabos and Marina Vallarta belong to the wider Live Aqua ecosystem but are not added to that hotel count.
Philosophy
The founding idea is sensorial rather than ceremonial. Live Aqua asks the guest to notice aroma, music, lighting, texture, food, spa and social atmosphere as a continuous experience. Posadas has repeatedly described the concept through the freedom to follow one's desires, to relax, and to enjoy the pleasure of being and being seen. The philosophy has evolved from an early avant-garde lifestyle proposition into what Posadas now calls warm luxury rooted in authentic Mexican hospitality. The useful continuity is not a particular interior style but the idea that mood can be designed across multiple senses.
What Distinguishes it
Sensorial hotelmaking Aromatherapy, ambient lighting, music, spa, food and tactile design are treated as parts of one product rather than independent amenities. The brand's name and early campaigns were built around this sensory proposition. Mexican luxury voice Live Aqua is a home-grown Mexican luxury brand rather than an imported global flag. Its current corporate language explicitly places warm Mexican hospitality at the centre of the experience. City and beach The same brand spans all-inclusive Caribbean leisure and urban hotels in Mexico City and Monterrey. This requires the sensory philosophy to travel without relying on one resort format. Lifestyle before scale Live Aqua remains small compared with global luxury chains. Its identity was established through a handful of highly visible houses rather than through rapid franchise multiplication. Residence extension Live Aqua Residence Club and private residences extend the name beyond transient hotel rooms, although Posadas reports the residence product separately from the core hotel portfolio.
Who it is Not For
Live Aqua is not for travellers who want restrained, anonymous or old-world luxury. Scent, music, social atmosphere, contemporary design and visible lifestyle cues are intentional parts of the experience. Nor should every Live Aqua be assumed to deliver the same resort format: Cancún and Punta Cana are fundamentally different products from Mexico City, Monterrey and San Miguel de Allende.

Live Aqua San Miguel de Allende · San Miguel de Allende
