Jin Jiang International can be present in a hotel business without appearing on its entrance. A 2020 exchange filing documented its ownership by Shanghai state institutions. Its acquisitions brought Louvre Hotels and Radisson into a wider corporate network while preserving recognisable guest-facing brands.[4] Its significance lies partly in that distance between the company controlling a platform and the name under which a traveller books.[1, 2]
2 · THE FRENCH CONNECTION
Louvre Hotels dates its acquisition by Jin Jiang to 2015. The following year its timeline records the first Campanile in Shanghai, followed by Golden Tulip in 2017. Those openings make the relationship more than a change in shareholders: brands developed in other markets could also move into China through the enlarged group.[1]
3 · THE RADISSON TRANSACTION
Radisson's corporate history records a Jin Jiang-led consortium completing its acquisition of shares in Radisson Hospitality AB in 2019. That year also brought a co-branded Radisson Blu hotel in Frankfurt. Here the parent relationship became visible at an individual property, while the wider Radisson portfolio continued to trade through its established identities.[2]
4 · BEHIND THE NAMES
Louvre's description of the group emphasises common procurement, finance and travel platforms alongside the retention of individual brand identities. Such shared functions are less visible than an interior or a restaurant, but can connect businesses with different service levels and customers. Corporate scale need not result in a single appearance at every reception desk.[1]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ Radisson is not one undivided global ownership story. In August 2022, Choice Hotels completed its purchase of Radisson Hotels Americas' franchise business, operations and intellectual property. Nor does acquiring a hotel group mean owning every building in its managed or franchised network. Rankings by rooms, hotels and real estate ownership answer different questions; none should be substituted for another.[3]
