EIH Limited is a principal corporate vehicle of the Oberoi Group, supporting hotels under the Oberoi and Trident identities. Its incorporation in May 1949 is separate from the group's 1934 origin under Mohan Singh Oberoi. This entry concerns the organisation of hotel assets and operations, rather than retelling the entire history of the guest-facing brands. [1, 2]

2 · GROWTH THROUGH COMBINATION

The company's history records the 1968 merger of Associated Hotels of India and Hotels (1938) into EIH, bringing properties including The Oberoi Grand, Maidens and The Oberoi Cecil into the company. Corporate combination could assemble an operating network from buildings with earlier lives. Their acquisition did not make the acquiring company their original builder. [2]

3 · DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIPS TO HOTELS

EIH's governance presentation distinguishes wholly owned and operated hotels, managed properties, and hotels in which it holds an interest directly or through another entity. The Oberoi, New Delhi and Trident, Gurgaon illustrate different categories. For a guest, both belong to recognisable service systems; for the company, they represent different relationships between land, buildings, capital and management. [3]

4 · SERVICES BEYOND THE BEDROOM

The same institutional structure includes flight catering, airport services and business aircraft charters. These activities extend hospitality into journeys and waiting places, with food production and service logistics becoming businesses in their own right. EIH's relevance therefore reaches beyond a collection of hotel façades: it includes the systems through which service is produced and delivered. [1, 3]

⚑ EIH Limited, EIH Associated Hotels Limited and the Oberoi Group are not identical corporate subjects. A group-wide hotel count should not be presented as EIH's wholly owned estate. Historical merger and opening dates describe particular events, while management contracts and ownership interests must be checked property by property.
