The nightclub of the Gstaad Palace, opened by the hotel as Gstaad’s first real nightclub — low snaking carpet-covered seating, louche lighting, an overnight success. The hotel’slong-serving Bocchini remembers that the night was like the day: forty or fifty steak tartares served between four in the morning and six or seven.
2 · ⚑ The pool is the entry
The dance floor sits over an indoor pool, and revellers regularly ended up in it. Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards liked the room enough to shoot part of The Return of the Pink Panther in it in 1975 — and Sellers falls into the pool in the scene. The register holds no other nightclub whose defining feature is a hazard, or one that appears in a film made by its own regulars. Diana, Princess of Wales came; so did Tina Turner, lip-syncing, and Madonna with her daughter. At the start, Bocchini says, it was film stars. David Niven, very classy. Peter Sellers drank a lot, so I would have to bring him up to his room — nearly carry him.
3 · ⚑ It closed, and a rival took the room
One account records that GreenGo was closed during the pandemic, and that The Alpina moved into the gap by turning its own basement loading bay into a nightclub. The Library records the succession because it is the same mechanism as the Kuznetsky Most address at LHL-S-166: a room stops, and the demand simply moves down the street. ⚑ Whether GreenGo has reopened is not established here, and the entry does not assume it from a hotel booking page listing a nightclub.
4 · Candour
⚑ The opening date is derived, not sourced. A 2017 article called the club forty-five years old, which gives about 1971; no source read here states the year. The Bocchini quotations come from one interview. Nothing establishes the club’s current operation, its capacity, or when the pool was built relative to the dance floor above it.
