Alfredo Bataller Parietti had chronic health problems conventional medicine did not resolve. He recovered after meeting a doctor working in nutrition and natural therapy, and opened SHA at Alicante in 2008 to make that recovery repeatable for others. The Method sets scientific medicine and natural therapy side by side with nutrition given the leading role, on the argument that the combination does more than any of the three alone.
2 · Why it is in the Library
It is a protocol with a name, and that is a different object from a spa. A treatment menu is a list of things a guest may choose; a method is a sequence the house believes in and applies. The register has recorded houses, brands, land and people; this group records the thing a guest actually undergoes, which nobody had catalogued as hospitality. That more than half of SHA’s guests in 2023 were returning is the strongest available evidence that a method, rather than a place, is what is being bought.
3 · Candour
⚑ The Library records the Method as stated by its author and takes no view on its clinical claims, which are outside what a hospitality register can assess. Award counts and return rates are the company’s own. Integrative medicine is contested ground and the entry does not pretend otherwise: a personal recovery, however genuine, is not evidence that a protocol generalises.
