Enzo Cecconi had managed the Hotel Cipriani in Venice ⚑ before opening his own restaurant in Mayfair in 1978. The lineage matters: the house began as Venetian hotel service transplanted into a London dining room.
2 · Why it matters
Cecconi's is the connective tissue between two entries the Library records elsewhere. It comes from the Cipriani world — the manner, the bellini, the deliberate simplicity — and it now belongs to Soho House, the group that industrialised the members' club.
That journey is the section in miniature: an origin house founded by a hotel manager, absorbed into a hospitality company, and reproduced in cities as an amenity for members.
