Vakko's hospitality story begins with a fashion business founded in Istanbul in 1934, when Vitali Hakko opened the hat shop Şen Şapka. Its hotels extend that history into rooms, wardrobes, bathing products and places to eat. Two Istanbul addresses give the idea distinct settings: Nişantaşı's shopping streets and the Bosphorus waterfront at Çengelköy. [1, 2]

2 · ROOM FOR A WARDROBE

Vakko Hotel & Residence in Nişantaşı opened in 2023. Its suite accommodation incorporates a bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, living and dining space, kitchen and marble bathroom. Published sizes range from 95 to 198 square metres. These arrangements make a fashion-house hotel more than a display of fabrics: there is space to unpack, dress, entertain and remain for a longer stay. 3 · A DIFFERENT ISTANBUL ADDRESS

Sumahan occupies a former nineteenth-century Ottoman distillery on the Bosphorus. The property's location in Çengelköy shifts the emphasis towards the water and the existing industrial building. The same brand can therefore work through two different relationships with the city: a residential base in a shopping district and a retreat within a converted waterfront structure. The building contributes a history older than the fashion house itself. [1]

4 · THE SECOND HOTEL OPENS

Turkish reporting records the inauguration of Vakko's second hotel at Sumahan in November 2024. This establishes a sequence from the Nişantaşı opening to the waterfront property. The two addresses make the hospitality venture a small collection with contrasting settings, while keeping Istanbul at its centre. Their scale and domestic arrangements allow the brand to express itself through an extended stay rather than a brief retail encounter. [2–4]
