The Twenty Two

The Twenty Two is a hotel and a private members' club under one roof, in two cities. The London house stands at 22 Grosvenor Square in Mayfair; the New York house at 16 East 16th Street, off Union Square. Haute Living, in September 2024, names Navid Mirtorabi and Jamie Reuben as the pair who launched the London club and stand behind the New York one, with the developer Michael Chetrit as partner there. Travelling for Business calls Mirtorabi "founder and principal" and Chetrit "partner and principal of The Twenty Two New York". The Gentleman's Journal names Mirtorabi as owner of Blakes hotel in Kensington, and Jamie Reuben as "of the Hertford Street ascendancy". [3,4,5,6]

Mayfair: An Edwardian House On The Square

Hospitality Net records the opening as "the 19th of April 2022", in "an Edwardian Manor at number 22 Grosvenor Square", on the corner of North Audley Street. The house has 31 bedrooms and suites, including a mews house, decorated by Natalia Miyar Atelier on eighteenth-century French lines; it was her first hotel. Darius Namdar, managing director, told Code Hospitality in March 2022 that the building "was once a family home", rebuilt in a "ground up, complete redevelopment", 42,500 square feet over five floors. He joined at the end of 2019 after he "bumped into Navid Mirtorabi and Jamie Reuben". [1,2]

The Club Is The Proposition

The club takes the ground and lower-ground floors: a Living Room, a Dining Room, a Music Room and the Vault Bar, which Hospitality Net says are reserved "for patrons and hotel guests". The register's reading: the room is the key to the club. In New York the terms are printed: Afar reports that "anyone can book a room at the hotel", that overnight guests reach the members' spaces, and that annual membership runs from $1,800 for those aged 29 and under, $2,750 from 30, plus a $1,500 joining fee. [1,7]

New York: The Margaret Louisa Home

The second house occupies the Margaret Louisa Home, built in 1891 by Margaret Louisa Vanderbilt Shepard as a residence for working women under the YWCA. Travelling for Business, on 17 October 2024, says the club "has made its debut", with gym and outdoor spaces "unveiled soon"; the restoration is credited to Alexy Kos and Che Huang of Child Studio. Haute Living gives nine storeys and 80,000 square feet — about twice the London house. The room counts disagree: 77 rooms including 17 suites and a rooftop penthouse (Haute Living, September 2024) against 78 rooms including 19 suites and a rooftop penthouse (Afar, May 2025). [5,6,7]

Editorial note — ⚑ New York's size is printed in both readings: 77 rooms and 17 suites ; 78 rooms and 19 suites . No count was made here. ⚑ No exact opening date for New York was found; the earliest source read that reports it open is dated 17 October 2024 . ⚑ Jamie Reuben's role is stated only as co-launcher and backer; Airmail, in October 2024, places him in the Reuben Brothers firm founded by his father David and uncle Simon, but the part of that article read gives no detail of The Twenty Two . ⚑ The Gentleman's Journal is undated; its line on Blakes is used without a date .
