Silversands Resorts

Silversands Hotels & Resorts is a compact Grenadian luxury collection created from Naguib Sawiris's dissatisfaction with high-end resorts that increasingly looked alike. After discovering Grenada, he sought to create hospitality that combined contemporary architecture and international service with the island's natural beauty and social openness. The current collection comprises Silversands Resort Grenada at Grand Anse and the smaller Silversands Beach House on Portici Beach.

Naguib Sawiris — The Founder's Vision

The official collection story begins with international businessman Naguib Sawiris. Having travelled extensively, he felt that luxury resorts had become visually and emotionally homogeneous. Grenada offered the opposite: spice-scented air, beaches, mountains, turquoise water and human warmth. Silversands was conceived as a way to share that sense of freedom rather than reproduce a generic luxury template.

Ora Developers and Grenada

Silversands is connected to Ora Developers, chaired by Naguib Sawiris, and to its Grenadian development platform. The developer describes its Grenada projects as designed and built within the context of the island. This owner-developer relationship matters because architecture, real estate, hotel operations and destination investment are closely linked.

2018 — Silversands Grand Anse

The first Silversands luxury resort opened on Grand Anse Beach in late 2018, with first guests checking in on 1 December. The project immediately introduced a highly contemporary visual language to Grenada and became known for a 100-metre infinity pool stretching toward the Caribbean Sea.

The 100-Metre Pool

The 100-metre pool is the most recognizable physical signature of Grand Anse and has been promoted as the longest pool in the Caribbean. More than a spectacle, it creates a strong architectural axis between arrival, resort and sea. It became the image through which the young brand established instant visual recognition.

Grand Anse — Sophisticated Simplicity

The collection describes Silversands as an ode to sophisticated simplicity. Grand Anse avoids Caribbean pastiche and excessive decorative luxury in favour of clean lines, large openings, restrained materials and an uninterrupted relationship with beach and sea.

Rooms, Suites and Villas

Grand Anse combines hotel rooms and suites with substantial private villas. Current official material highlights Ocean View King and Junior Suite categories alongside three-bedroom private ocean-view villas of approximately 5,000 square feet with kitchens, private pool decks and indoor-outdoor living.

Villas as a Residential Luxury Layer

The villas create a different luxury proposition from the main hotel. Larger groups and families can occupy private residential space while retaining access to the resort's dining, spa and service ecosystem. This hotel-plus-villa architecture also connects Silversands to Ora's broader luxury real-estate capabilities.

Grand Anse Beach as the Master Asset

Grand Anse is one of Grenada's defining beaches, and the first resort's value is inseparable from its location. Silversands does not attempt to manufacture a private-island fantasy; it places contemporary luxury directly on an established Grenadian beach and allows the destination to remain visible.

Luxury Without Gating Off the World

The developer's stated philosophy is unusually important: luxury should not be gated off from the rest of the world but become a beautiful addition to it. This idea distinguishes Silversands from resort models that rely on physical and social separation. It also aligns with Sawiris's broader language of freedom.

Gastronomy at Grand Anse

Grand Anse's culinary programme includes Asian-influenced dining with a Grenadian twist, fresh seafood, plant-based options and more casual beach and pool experiences. Current property references include Asiatique, Grenadian Grill, Beach Lounge and Puro.

Silversands Spa

The Grand Anse spa provides the collection's principal full-service wellness infrastructure. Current cross-property material describes treatment rooms, pool, sauna, ice therapy, salon and holistic rituals. Locally sourced ingredients connect some treatments to Grenada rather than treating wellness as entirely imported.

2024 — Silversands Beach House

Silversands Beach House began operating on 1 February 2024 at Portici Beach. It was created as the more intimate sister property to Grand Anse, using a dramatically different site: a protected beach, cliff face and hillside rather than a long open resort frontage.

Beach House — Intimate Escapism

The current official site describes Beach House as 28 intentionally designed accommodations framed by lush canopy, dramatic stone bluff and Portici Beach. The scale changes the emotional register of the collection from contemporary resort luxury to intimate escapism.

Portfolio Count — Important Note

Current official Silversands material consistently presents Beach House as 28 accommodations. Some launch-period third-party material reported 32 suites. LHL follows the current official operating figure of 28 and treats the older 32-key references as development or launch-era information rather than the present inventory.

Khaled Morgan and the Cliffside Composition

Current Silversands press material identifies architect Khaled Morgan and describes most Beach House rooms positioned atop the cliff overlooking Portici Beach, with additional units cascading down the slope and beachfront accommodation near the infinity pool. The architecture uses topography as the organizing principle.

Indoor-Outdoor Living

Beach House rooms and suites use private canopied terraces, broad windows and open-plan layouts to blur the line between interior and landscape. The design is less about decorative Caribbean motifs than about shade, view, breeze and physical proximity to vegetation and sea.

Beachfront Bungalows

Beachfront Bungalows place guests directly beside Portici Beach. Current official floorplan information gives approximately 947 square feet with bedroom, sitting area, bathroom and terrace. Direct beach access makes these the most immediate expression of the Beach House concept.

Two-Bedroom Panoramic Suite

The Two Bedroom Panoramic Ocean View Suite sits at the property's highest point and offers approximately 1,733 square feet, two en-suite bedrooms, living and dining areas and a broad patio. It provides a larger residential option while preserving the intimate scale of Beach House.

Azzurro

Azzurro is Beach House's beachfront restaurant, combining Mediterranean-inspired cooking with Grenadian ingredients and setting. Guests can dine with direct beach proximity while also retaining access to the broader culinary ecosystem at Grand Anse.

Two Properties, One Grenada Ecosystem

A key strength of the collection is cross-property access. Beach House guests can use spa and dining outlets at Grand Anse, including Asiatique, Grenadian Grill, Beach Lounge and Puro. This allows the smaller property to remain intimate without reproducing every facility.

Wellness at Beach House

Beach House uses a lighter wellness model: a Wellness Room, outdoor gym, pool and access to the full spa at Grand Anse. The strategy is sensible for a 28-key property because intimacy is preserved while larger infrastructure is shared across the collection.

Grenada — The Spice Isle

Silversands repeatedly makes Grenada itself central to the brand. Nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, cocoa, waterfalls, rainforest, markets, St. George's and the island's maritime culture become part of the guest narrative. The destination is not merely a tropical backdrop.

Natural Thrill Experiences

The collection's experience programme includes rainforest and waterfall exploration, snorkeling, water sports, sailing, sunset cruises and visits to the world-famous underwater sculpture park. The strongest experiences use Grenada's natural geography rather than imported entertainment.

Sailing and the Sea

Guests can sail on traditional wooden sloops or catamarans, cruise the western coastline and explore offshore islands. Marine experiences extend the resort beyond its beach frontage and connect luxury hospitality to Grenada's Caribbean geography.

Food, Rum, Chocolate and Spice

Dining events include Grenadian oil-down lunches, sunset BBQs, rum and chocolate tastings and farm-to-table experiences. These programmes translate Grenada's agricultural identity into hospitality rather than reducing the Spice Isle label to marketing copy.

Farm-to-Table

Silversands offers private-chef farm-to-table experiences using fresh local ingredients in selected locations. The concept is particularly appropriate in Grenada, where cocoa, spices, fruits and local agriculture provide a distinctive culinary base.

Heritage Experiences

The Blue Tea experience at Tower Estate connects guests with a century-old Grenadian home, gardens, spices and afternoon-tea ritual. This broadens the collection beyond beaches and wellness into local history and domestic heritage.

Romance

Beach House is explicitly positioned as a romantic Caribbean resort, while the wider collection offers private dinners, sunset cruises and couple-oriented experiences. The small scale of Beach House makes it the clearer romance product; Grand Anse provides more facilities and villa options.

Babymoon and Personalised Wellness

The experience menu includes a dedicated babymoon programme with pregnancy-sensitive dining, doula sessions, prenatal yoga and tailored excursions. This is a good example of Silversands using personalization to create a specific guest journey rather than a generic package.

Season of Presence

The current collection homepage frames its seasonal programme around Presence: slowing down, reconnecting and paying attention to morning light, sea rhythm, creativity and sensory discovery. This language gives the brand a quieter wellness philosophy without turning it into a destination spa brand.

Merveilles — Beyond the Hotel

Current Beach House material also presents Merveilles as a destination for upscale dining, entertainment, boutique shopping, day-club use, yacht access and duty-free retail. This signals a broader Ora/Silversands ambition to create lifestyle infrastructure around hospitality rather than operate rooms alone.

The Leading Hotels of the World

Current resort footers display The Leading Hotels of the World branding. For LHL this is a third-party affiliation and distribution/recognition layer, not a proprietary Silversands loyalty programme.

Loyalty and Direct Relationship

No proprietary Silversands collection-wide points or elite-status programme is currently confirmed in the official materials reviewed. The collection instead uses direct offers, repeat recognition, packages and third-party luxury affiliations. LHL Loyalty classification: None.

Luxury Positioning

Silversands belongs to contemporary Caribbean luxury rather than heritage grand-hotel or mass all-inclusive hospitality. Grand Anse is a design-led full resort with villas and substantial spa/dining infrastructure; Beach House is a 28-key intimate boutique counterpoint. LHL classification: Grenada-focused Contemporary Luxury Resort Collection with strong design, residential and destination DNA.

What Distinguishes Silversands

NAGUIB SAWIRIS. A clear founder vision stands behind the collection.

GRENADA ONLY. Destination depth is more important than geographic scale.

ANTI-HOMOGENEITY. Silversands was conceived as an antidote to faceless luxury.

100-METRE POOL. Grand Anse has an instantly recognisable architectural signature.

TWO SCALES. Full resort at Grand Anse and intimate Beach House at Portici.

RESIDENTIAL LUXURY. Large private villas extend the product beyond hotel rooms.

CROSS-PROPERTY ACCESS. Beach House stays intimate while using Grand Anse infrastructure.

SPICE ISLE EXPERIENCES. Food, rum, chocolate, sailing and rainforest connect the hotels to Grenada.

What the Model Does Not Solve

Silversands remains extremely concentrated: both operating hotels are on Grenada, creating destination and air-access exposure. The collection is also small enough that the master brand still depends heavily on the performance and reputation of individual properties. Finally, contemporary minimalist luxury is widely used globally; Silversands must keep Grenada, founder philosophy and service execution visible to avoid becoming the homogeneous luxury it was created to oppose.

Landmark Properties

Silversands Resort Grenada at Grand Anse
first resort, opened 2018; contemporary full-service luxury; 100-metre pool; rooms, suites and large private villas; spa and multiple dining venues.
Silversands Beach HousePortici Beach

Competitive landscape

Six Senses La Sagesse is the most important newer Grenada luxury comparison: it brings a global wellness and sustainability brand to the island, whereas Silversands is more locally concentrated, founder-led and contemporary-design driven.

Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel represents a more established Grenadian independent-luxury tradition with a different, more classic service language.

Silversands differentiates through architectural modernism, Ora development scale, the Grand Anse / Portici two-property ecosystem and the founder's explicit rejection of homogeneous luxury.

Editorial Note

This entry reflects official Silversands Collection, Silversands Beach House, Ora Developers and Grenadian development information reviewed in August 2026. The collection currently presents two operating resorts in Grenada. Grand Anse received its first guests on 1 December 2018. Beach House opened on 1 February 2024 and the current official site states 28 accommodations; older launch-era references to 32 suites are not used as the current inventory. No proprietary Silversands points/status loyalty programme is confirmed.
