Silks Hotel Group

Silks Hotel Group is one of Taiwan's most important hospitality companies and a rare example of an Asian group whose modern history connects international luxury branding with locally created hotel concepts. Founded in 1990 as the former FIH Regent Group, it owns and operates Regent Taipei and manages Silks Place, Wellspring by Silks, Silks Club, Silks X and Just Sleep — officially described as one of Asia's leading hotel management companies and the largest and most profitable hotel group listed in Taiwan's tourism industry. The Library treats LHL-091 as a multi-tier house whose relevance extends from international luxury to culturally rooted Taiwanese concepts.

The brand

The brand architecture is broad but clearly differentiated: Regent Taipei is the international luxury flagship; Silks Place the cultural luxury lifestyle brand built on sense of place; Wellspring by Silks the hot-spring resort identity; Silks Club an art-and-design boutique; Just Sleep the stylish midscale chain, now including Osaka Shinsaibashi in Japan.

The corporate history includes a major international chapter: Silks acquired Regent International Hotels in 2010 and developed the brand globally before formalising a 2018 partnership with IHG for Regent's worldwide expansion, refocusing itself on Regent in Taiwan and its own Silks and Just Sleep concepts. This makes the company historically important in the modern evolution of the Regent brand itself.

Brand philosophy

Silks frames its identity through the Silk Road as a bridge between East and West — silk as a symbol of luxury, softness and resilience — blending Eastern simplicity with Western elegance while incorporating the essence of each location.

Its service philosophy, the "Tao of Silks", is to serve as the team would like to be served: to hear without being told, to see without being shown, to know without being asked. Intuitive anticipation, not theatrical ceremony, sits at the centre.

What distinguishes it

Regent is part of the corporate history. Few regional groups have owned and developed a global luxury brand before handing its expansion to a worldwide partner.

Taiwanese identity is central. Silks Place, Wellspring and the group's F&B use local culture, landscape and cuisine as active hospitality.

Genuinely multi-tier. Luxury, hot-spring, boutique and midscale products coexist without pretending to one service intensity.

Food beyond hotels. The group operates restaurants at cultural landmarks including Taiwan's National Palace Museum.

Concepts that travel. Just Sleep Osaka shows locally created Taiwanese formats moving beyond the home market.

WHO IT IS NOT FOR

Silks Hotel Group is a weaker fit for travellers expecting every property to occupy one uniform luxury tier: the system deliberately ranges from Regent Taipei to midscale Just Sleep, and guests seeking the highest level should distinguish the luxury houses from the wider portfolio. The group is also geographically concentrated in Taiwan. It works best for travellers who value Taiwanese hospitality, destination culture, food, hot-spring travel and a service philosophy joining Eastern and Western traditions.

Competitive landscape

Editorial note — Code and book number follow LHL Register v50.0, which places Silks Hotel Group at LHL-091 / P1-05-28 in Volume V — Established Luxury Houses, Single-Market section. Current official materials reviewed in August 2026 record the 1990 founding as FIH Regent Group, the 2010 acquisition of Regent International Hotels and the 2018 IHG partnership for Regent's international expansion. Because the portfolio spans luxury through midscale, this Master does not assign one uniform luxury level to every property.
