Radisson Hotel Group / Jin Jiang

Radisson Hotel Group is the international hotel platform majority owned by Jin Jiang International.

Position

Radisson Hotel Group is the international hotel platform majority owned by Jin Jiang International. LHL admits one luxury brand beneath this corporate layer: Radisson Collection. The group history is unusually useful because ownership of the Radisson system itself changed repeatedly and, in 2022, the Americas business and intellectual property were sold away to Choice Hotels.

Register

LHL-469 · P2-16-02. The current register contains LHL-282 · Radisson Collection · P2-16-01 beneath the group.

Current parent

Radisson Hotel Group's current owner-facing material says the group is majority owned by Jin Jiang International.

Current geography

The present Radisson Hotel Group corporate system is focused on EMEA and APAC after the Americas business was sold to Choice Hotels.

Historic lineage

The modern group descends from the Radisson/Carlson hotel system and Rezidor's European operating platform.

Rezidor

Rezidor became a major European partner/operator for Radisson brands and ultimately part of the Carlson Rezidor structure.

Carlson Rezidor

The corporate history records the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group identity before the later Radisson Hotel Group rebrand.

HNA acquisition

In 2016 HNA Tourism Group acquired Carlson Hotels, Inc.

Rezidor offer

HNA subsequently launched a mandatory public offer for shares in Rezidor, deepening control of the combined system.

2018 transformation

In 2018 Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group became Radisson Hotel Group and introduced a new global brand architecture.

Radisson Hospitality AB

Rezidor Hotel Group AB was renamed Radisson Hospitality AB on 7 May 2018.

Radisson Collection launch

The 2018 transformation launched Radisson Collection as the group's luxury collection brand.

Why Collection matters

Radisson Collection was designed for distinctive luxury properties whose local identity remains visible rather than for one standardized palace template.

Current positioning

Radisson currently defines Radisson Collection as luxury lifestyle, built around authentic local influence, living design and vibrant social scenes.

Owner proposition

The current development page explicitly markets Radisson Collection to owners through individual identity, flexible contracts and limited conversion costs.

Collection logic

An existing landmark hotel can therefore enter Radisson Collection without Radisson becoming the historical author of the building.

2018 Jin Jiang change

Radisson's current presence page says the group has been part of Jin Jiang International since 2018.

2019 completion

The official corporate history records that a consortium led by Jin Jiang International completed the acquisition of shares in Radisson Hospitality AB in 2019.

Why two dates appear

The 2018 date reflects entry into the Jin Jiang group/ownership transition, while the 2019 timeline records completion of the public-company share acquisition. Both official formulations are preserved.

Delisting

After the Jin Jiang-led acquisition, Radisson Hospitality AB's delisting from Nasdaq Stockholm was approved.

Chinese parent scale

Jin Jiang brought Radisson into one of the world's largest hotel conglomerates and provided a route into Chinese distribution and owner relationships. 22 · China alliance Radisson has explicitly described Jin Jiang as its shareholder/parent and used the relationship to accelerate APAC expansion.

Affiliate brands

In selected APAC territories Radisson has rights to develop and manage Jin Jiang-network brands including Metropolo and 7 Days and Louvre-network brands such as Golden Tulip, Kyriad and Campanile.

Why affiliate brands matter

The parent relationship can create commercial rights across brands that Radisson itself does not own.

Brand ownership versus licence

A master licence or territorial development right is not the same thing as ownership of the underlying brand.

Transformation plan

From 2017 onward Radisson pursued a multi-year strategic transformation involving brand architecture, revenue systems, IT and development.

Investment

In 2021 Radisson described a targeted €250 million investment in assets, brands and systems supported by Jin Jiang and Sino-Ceef.

Radisson Collection growth

The luxury collection grew from its 2018 launch to more than 65 hotels in operation and development on current official pages.

2023 India entry

Radisson Collection's first India signing was announced in Hyderabad in 2023, demonstrating the brand's continued geographic expansion.

2026 Frankfurt

In June 2026 Radisson signed a Radisson Collection hotel at FOUR Frankfurt with developer Groß & Partner for a 2027 opening.

Frankfurt owner/developer lesson

The Frankfurt release identifies Groß & Partner as developer and Radisson Hotel Group as operator, again separating real estate from hospitality brand.

2026 Chengdu

In July 2026 Jin Jiang International Hotels and Radisson Hotel Group jointly announced the opening of Radisson Collection Hotel, Hi-Tech Zone Chengdu. 33 · Why Chengdu matters It is a visible example of the Chinese parent and international hotel group collaborating on the admitted luxury brand.

Current group scale

Current Radisson corporate pages describe ten brands and more than 1,640 hotels in operation and development in 100+ countries across its EMEA/APAC system.

Current rooms

The current global-presence page reports more than 259,770 rooms in operation and development.

LHL scope

Only Radisson Collection is admitted beneath LHL-469. The other Radisson brands are outside this Library luxury group scope.

2022 Americas sale

In June 2022 Radisson Hotel Group agreed to sell Radisson Hotel Group Americas to Choice Hotels for approximately US$675 million.

What Choice bought

The transaction covered franchise business, operations and intellectual property in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, plus the real-estate value of three owned assets.

Scale of sale

The announced Americas perimeter contained 624 hotels and more than 68,000 rooms.

Brand split

Choice would independently own and control the Radisson brands in the Americas, while Radisson Hotel Group continued growing the business in EMEA and APAC.

Radisson Collection split

The Americas transaction explicitly included Radisson Collection among the brands transferred for the Americas.

Why this is exceptional

The same brand family can therefore have geographically divided corporate ownership/control. 'Who owns Radisson Collection?' requires a territorial answer after 2022.

Current LHL interpretation

LHL-469 should describe the Jin Jiang/Radisson EMEA-APAC parent system; Americas rights require a Choice Hotels cross-reference when relevant to an individual house.

Brand history versus territorial rights

The 2018 creation of Radisson Collection belongs to Radisson Hotel Group history even though later territorial IP rights were divided.

Owner/operator distinction

Radisson's current development material is explicitly owner-facing and emphasizes management relationships and owner value.

Not every building is Radisson-owned

A Radisson Collection flag is therefore not evidence that Radisson Hotel Group or Jin Jiang owns the real estate.

Management

Some properties are managed by Radisson Hotel Group for third-party owners.

Franchise/licence

Other Radisson-system hotels can operate through franchise or licence structures.

Owned assets

The 2022 Americas sale itself proves that some owned assets existed, but only three owned real-estate assets were included in that 624-hotel transaction perimeter.

Why that ratio matters

Even without generalizing the exact Americas ratio globally, the transaction illustrates how brand/franchise economics can vastly exceed direct real-estate ownership.

Loyalty

Radisson Rewards supplies a cross-brand loyalty and direct-distribution layer.

China loyalty localization

From August 2019 localized in-hotel member benefits at Radisson properties in China were delivered by Jin Jiang Club while Radisson Rewards earning continued.

Why this matters

Parent ownership can integrate loyalty and distribution without completely replacing the international brand's own programme.

Commercial engine

The corporate group sells owners distribution, revenue systems, brand standards, technology and international demand.

House authorship

Individual Radisson Collection hotels often occupy historic or architecturally distinctive buildings. Their earlier history must remain separate from the 2018 collection flag.

Berlin example

Radisson Collection Berlin is a transformed existing hotel whose building and earlier hotel history predate the Collection identity.

Conversion logic

Current owner materials specifically promote Radisson Collection's ability to retain individual identity and reduce conversion costs.

Luxury strategy

Radisson Collection is the group's principal luxury-lifestyle expression rather than merely the top room category of Radisson Blu.

Corporate benefit

Jin Jiang provides scale and China access; Radisson provides international brand architecture and operating expertise.

Corporate risk

The ownership chain—Carlson/Rezidor, HNA, Jin Jiang—and the 2022 Americas sale make corporate continuity more complex than the guest-facing Radisson name suggests.

Territorial fragmentation risk

Different owners of Radisson IP in different regions can complicate global consistency, loyalty, development and historical attribution.

Brand dilution risk

Rapid collection growth must preserve the individual character that is the brand's stated reason for existing.

Count caution

■ Current Radisson pages give approximately 65-70 Radisson Collection hotels in operation and development depending on publication date. Counts are dated, not reconciled into a false permanent number.

Ownership-date caution

■ Radisson says it has been part of Jin Jiang since 2018, while its history says the Jin Jiang-led consortium completed the Radisson Hospitality AB share acquisition in 2019. Both refer to stages of the ownership transition.

Americas caution

■ After the 2022 Choice transaction, statements about Radisson brand ownership must distinguish Americas from EMEA/APAC.

Jin Jiang caution

■ Radisson Hotel Group is majority owned by Jin Jiang International; this does not mean every hotel, every affiliate brand or every Radisson-branded property is owned by Jin Jiang.

Collection caution

■ Radisson Collection is a soft/collection-style luxury brand. Joining it does not transfer authorship of a hotel's pre-existing architecture or history to Radisson.

What is not established

This master does not establish property title, contract type or territorial IP ownership for every individual Radisson Collection hotel; those are house-level questions.

Profile

Radisson Hotel Group / Jin Jiang · LHL-469 · P2-16-02. Current parent: majority-owned by Jin Jiang International. LHL luxury scope: LHL-282 Radisson Collection. Collection launched: 2018. Major corporate boundaries: HNA acquisition 2016; Jin Jiang transition 2018-19; Americas sale to Choice Hotels 2022. Current corporate focus: EMEA and APAC.

Conclusion

Radisson Hotel Group is one of the clearest examples of why a hospitality library needs a corporate layer above the brand. Radisson Collection was created in 2018, but the company around it moved from Carlson/Rezidor through HNA to Jin Jiang, then sold the entire Americas franchise and IP business to Choice. The guest may still see the word Radisson; the legal and commercial owner behind that word can depend on geography and date. Jin Jiang owns the parent platform in EMEA/APAC, Radisson operates and licenses the hospitality system, and third-party owners can still own the buildings.
