Pacha

1 · POSITION

Pacha began in Sitges in 1967; its Ibiza club followed in 1973. Founder Ricardo Urgell’s account makes the sequence explicit. Ibiza became the name’s defining association, but it was an expansion of an existing enterprise rather than the place where the entire business began. [1]

2 · THE CLUB AS A DESTINATION

A nightclub gives hospitality an unusually concentrated timetable: arrival, gathering, music and departure unfold within a few hours. Pacha’s longer history raises a different possibility. A recognisable club can become a reason to choose an island, bringing the evening into the decision about where to travel and where to stay. That is the editorial significance of its passage into a wider hospitality business.

3 · WHAT CHANGED HANDS

FIVE Holdings reports completing its acquisition of the Pacha Group in October 2023 for €302.5 million. The transaction joined an established nightlife name to a hotel-led hospitality company. Its importance was broader than control of a single dance floor: the acquired business included the Pacha Ibiza club, hotel interests and rights in a recognisable brand. [2]

4 · EXTENDING THE VISIT

FIVE’s chronology records the launch of Destino Five Ibiza in 2025. Set beside the Pacha acquisition, that development shows how an evening destination can sit within an accommodation offer. The room and the night out can be sold as connected parts of a visit. This is an extension of hospitality around nightlife, not evidence that every guest follows the same itinerary. [2, 3]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

The dates 1967, 1973 and 2023 identify different events: the original club, the Ibiza opening and a later ownership change. They should not be used interchangeably. Nor does acquiring a group prove ownership of every venue that has ever carried its name; historical locations and current contractual rights require separate checking. [1–3]
