1 · POSITION
JA Resorts & Hotels began in 1981 as Dutco Hotels, opening Jebel Ali Beach Hotel and Hatta Fort Hotel in the same year. Beach and mountain were present at the beginning. This gives the group a particular place in Dubai's hospitality history: its early resort geography extended from the coast to the Hajar Mountains. [1]
2 · THE MOUNTAIN REMAINS A DESTINATION
JA Hatta Fort Hotel continues to organise its offer around the surrounding landscape. Rooms, villas and Terra Cabins provide different ways to stay, while hiking, biking and kayaking appear in its visitor programme. Hospitality here supplies a base from which to enter the outdoors, then return to food, a pool and a room at day's end. [2]
3 · ACTIVITY BESIDE THE COAST
At JA Lake View Hotel in Jebel Ali, the published facilities include golf, a marina, courts and other sporting spaces. Restaurants range from casual settings to Kinara by Vikas Khanna. This combination gives the resort several daily rhythms, allowing a stay to be built around a particular activity or around the movement between dining, exercise and rest. [3]
4 · A NAME TRAVELS BEYOND DUBAI
The company remains part of DUTCO and presents a collection spanning the UAE, the Maldives and the United Kingdom. Those locations extend the range of landscapes associated with JA, from island stays to Scottish properties. The connection is an operating brand with a Dubai origin, rather than an attempt to reproduce the original Jebel Ali setting everywhere. [1]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ The two openings in 1981 establish an early local resort history; they do not make JA the origin of hospitality in Dubai. Nor should all current facilities be projected backwards onto the first hotels. The company history and today's property pages describe different moments, and the differences between a mountain retreat and an integrated coastal resort remain central to understanding the collection.
