Eleven Experience

Eleven Experience is an adventure-lodge company whose own About page carries the mark "ELEVEN / EST. 2011". It lists twelve lodges across eight destinations: Iceland, France, Canada, Chile, the Bahamas, Colorado, New Zealand and Alaska. D Magazine, writing in November 2014, named Chad R. Pike as founder and called the business "an 'experiential' travel company that specializes in pairing outdoor adventure with renovated, high-end lodging." The company itself prefers "a leading collection of global adventure lodges". [1,3,4]

Guides, Gear And Access Come First

The home page states the offer before it states the rooms: "the best guides, gear, and access". Lodge inclusions follow the same order — "All necessary gear for guided activities" — and where there is an exception it is named, as at Deplar Farm, where guests bring their own ski boots and helmets. Access is bought as well as built; Eleven claims "300,000 exclusive acres of heli-skiing" at Revelstoke. The beds are the smaller half of what is sold. [1,2]

Few Rooms, And No House Promised Whole

Eleven calls its lodges "private gateways to remote, pristine locations around the globe", and sets the scale plainly: "With few rooms and intimate settings, each stay is designed for those who value their time." The counts hold to it — eleven rooms at Bahama House, twelve at Revelstoke, thirteen at Deplar Farm, six cabins at Winterlake. One firm is credited across the group: "Created with Twelve Interiors, each space tells a story." [1,2]

Converted Buildings And Bought Businesses

The first lodge was Scarp Ridge Lodge at Crested Butte, Colorado, which Luxury Travel Advisor says "debuted in 2011"; D Magazine describes it as "a refurbished, 1880s miners saloon". Deplar Farm in Iceland is, on Eleven's own account, "a converted 15th-century sheep farm in northern Iceland." Not every house is made this way. Owen River Lodge in New Zealand, "founded in 2003 by fly fishing legend Felix Borenstein", was taken on by acquisition. [1,3,4,5]

Editorial note — ⚑ The founding year is the company's own: "EST. 2011", corroborated only by D Magazine's "3-year-old" in November 2014. The 2008 date in circulation is supported by nothing read here. Eleven's site contradicts itself on size — twelve lodges listed, while its Owen River release calls that lodge "the 13th property in the portfolio". Chad Pike is named on none of the company pages read; his founding rests on D Magazine. Nothing read here promises a lodge taken whole.
