Cheval Collection traces its beginnings to a property acquired in Cheval Place, Knightsbridge, in 1982. Its enduring proposition is the serviced apartment: space to cook, live and stay for an extended period, supported by a hospitality organisation. The apartment gives the guest a household’s practical freedoms while the operator supplies professional service. [1, 2]

2 · THE UNIT OF HOSPITALITY

Cheval’s accommodation includes apartments, mews houses and penthouses with kitchens and dedicated living space. These features change the organisation of a visit. Meals can be prepared at home, work can take place away from the bedroom, and a family can share an address without sharing a single hotel room. The domestic plan becomes part of the service offered to travellers. [2]

3 · A COLLECTION ACROSS ADDRESSES

The current collection presents London residences alongside Cheval Maison properties in Dubai. Cheval Three Quays, near the Tower of London, and Cheval Maison at the Palm occupy very different urban settings. The continuity is in an apartment-based stay and a common operator, rather than a repeated building type. Cheval’s website distinguishes its Residences and Maison names while marketing both within the same collection. [2]

4 · A PORTFOLIO HAS DATES

Edinburgh belongs to the group’s history, but older descriptions require updating. Cheval notified guests that its Edinburgh properties would move to Marriott brands from 1 July 2025, identifying The Edinburgh Grand with The Luxury Collection and Old Town Chambers with Autograph Collection. Marriott now lists The Edinburgh Grand under its own brand. This is a change of affiliation, not evidence that the building or apartment model disappeared. [3, 4]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

The 1982 date describes the origin of the business through its first acquisition. It should not be read as the opening date of every residence. Portfolio counts, locations and brand affiliations also change; the entry therefore separates the lasting accommodation model from historical lists of properties. [1–4]
