Beauvallon Collection

Beauvallon Collection is a family-led French luxury hotel group founded in Lyon in 2019 by Amaury Rostagnat. It specialises in acquiring and renewing individual heritage properties while preserving their local character. Its hotels are not intended to look identical. Burgundy, Champagne and Lyon provide different architectural settings, gastronomic cultures and reasons to travel. The common idea is a form of hospitality in which guests are invited to recover a sense of time.

A Young Collection of Older Houses

The group is comparatively young, but its properties are not. This distinction is the foundation of its story. Rather than building a new hotel chain around a standard room product, Beauvallon assembled established houses with histories of their own. Its editorial challenge is to retain the difference between the age of the company, the date it acquired each property and the much older life of each building.

Amaury Rostagnat and the Founding Idea

Beauvallon's 2025 announcement identifies Amaury Rostagnat as founder in 2019. The company's public interviews emphasise discreet refinement, authentic welcome and emotional connections created by attentive staff. Those are founder-led ideals rather than independent measures of service quality. Rostagnat's significance is the attempt to make an identifiable collection out of locally rooted houses without erasing the histories that made them attractive.

Lucie Brindjonc and the Operating Culture

The company names Lucie Brindjonc as its director general and day-to-day leader. Her role is important because acquisition alone cannot create a hotel collection. The service philosophy must be translated into training, recruitment, dining, guest recognition and the preservation of individual house character. A joint interview with Rostagnat describes the pleasures of unhurried travel: fireplaces, breakfast on terraces, regional food, vineyards and encounters with producers.

Beaune, 2019: Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa

The collection's first anchor was Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa in Beaune, Burgundy, acquired in 2019. Beaune is a wine capital where hospitality is inseparable from vineyards, cellars, merchants and gastronomy. A historic hotel here is more than accommodation for visitors: it is a gateway to the culture of Burgundy. Beauvallon made the property the first expression of its house-based philosophy.

The Burgundy Table

The company's current materials highlight Le Clos du Cèdre, the gastronomic restaurant at the Beaune hotel, alongside regional food and wine experiences. In 2026 Beauvallon reported the restaurant retaining its Michelin star under chef Jordan Billan. That distinction belongs to the restaurant and its dated guide recognition, not to every Beauvallon dining outlet. Restaurant history, chef succession and awards should have their own satellite records.

The Importance of Wine Geography

Burgundy is not a decorative backdrop for the collection. The group promotes encounters with winegrowers, visits to vineyards, tastings and experiences connected to the Hospices de Beaune. Its hospitality proposition depends on a guest's ability to explore the region rather than remain inside the hotel. The same principle later became visible in Champagne, where the product is linked to another wine culture with its own institutions and rituals.

Champagne, 2023: Hostellerie La Briqueterie

In October 2023 Beauvallon announced the acquisition of Hostellerie La Briqueterie near Épernay. Contemporary acquisition coverage dates the property's original opening to 1973 and notes that it had become a five-star Relais & Châteaux house in 2012. The announcement described forty rooms and suites, a restaurant, spa and parkland of approximately four hectares. These figures are a 2023 snapshot, not permanent specifications.

Restoring Rather Than Replicating

The Champagne acquisition was accompanied by a renovation programme planned for early 2024. The strategic point was not to make La Briqueterie resemble the Beaune hotel, but to renew an existing house and retain its local character. The collection's own manifesto stresses ageing buildings, real keys, concierge desks and tangible hotel rituals. These details are intentionally nostalgic, but they are presented alongside contemporary comfort rather than as a rejection of modern hospitality.

The 2025 Villa Florentine Acquisition

On 2 October 2025 the previous owner, Arteloge Hôtels & Restaurants, announced the sale of Villa Florentine to Beauvallon Collection. Beauvallon issued its own announcement on 2 November. The two dates should not be confused: the transaction was announced by the seller in October, while the collection's later publication presented the acquisition to its audience. The purchase gave Beauvallon a third major historic house and its first property in central Lyon.

A Thirty-Two-Year Handover

The seller's press release described the sale as a transition after thirty-two years of Arteloge's development of Villa Florentine. Eric Giorgi, Arteloge's chairman, emphasised the work his group had done to shape the hotel. The handover matters because Beauvallon's strategy depends on acquiring a functioning institution with staff, guests, reputation and an inherited operating culture. The new owner is a custodian of that history, not its sole author.

Villa Florentine and the Lyon Landscape

Villa Florentine stands on the slopes of Fourvière above Vieux Lyon. The building's Renaissance-inspired architecture and elevated setting make the city's topography part of the guest experience. Its views connect the hotel to the old city below. The property's historic identity should be treated in a dedicated house record, including its earlier building uses, transformations, architects and restoration phases. A corporate master should not invent these details.

The 2026 Reopening

Beauvallon's 2025 acquisition announcement said Villa Florentine would close temporarily after 5 January 2026 for renovation and was scheduled to reopen in April. The company's 2026 press coverage subsequently described the revived property and a renewed restaurant programme. That is stronger evidence than an unfulfilled forecast alone, but the precise reopening date and complete scope of works should be documented at house level.

Henri Carlier and the Culinary Relaunch

The group's September 2026 press review identifies Henri Carlier as head chef at Villa Florentine. Contemporary coverage also describes the restaurant's relaunch and the addition of Le Comptoir as a more accessible dining option. This is an important People and restaurant link: a historic hotel can change its public identity through its culinary leadership as well as through architectural renovation.

The Collection's Manifesto

Beauvallon's manifesto celebrates traditional hospitality without rejecting contemporary expectations. It invokes handwritten notes, postcards, key rings, fireplaces, local bread and neighbouring wine producers. These details form a deliberate contrast with anonymous standardised hotels. They are not proof that every property follows identical procedures; they are the shared vocabulary through which the company explains its intended atmosphere.

Time as the Brand's Central Theme

The collection repeatedly frames travel as a chance to recover time: a long breakfast, an afternoon in vineyards, an unhurried meal or a stay in a building with visible history. This is a more distinctive proposition than a generic promise of luxury. The idea works particularly well because the three established houses are tied to regions where gastronomy and heritage invite slower forms of travel.

Relais & Châteaux and Individual Recognition

The properties' affiliations and culinary distinctions help position them in the upper end of French hospitality. But membership in a hotel association belongs to a specific property and may change. LHL should not automatically describe Beauvallon Collection itself as a single Relais & Châteaux brand or assume that all properties have the same awards.

Spa and Wellbeing

The Beaune hotel promotes a Nuxe spa, the Champagne house a Codage spa and Villa Florentine an Apoticari spa. The differences reinforce the collection's individual-house structure. Wellness is an important part of the guest experience, but it does not define Beauvallon as a spa chain. Spa operators, treatments and facility specifications should be recorded individually.

A Fourth Name in the Brand Universe

The collection's 2026 news and manifesto pages also refer to Oyat Maison de famille. However, the main official English property directory prominently presents three hotels: Beaune, Champagne and Villa Florentine. The exact operating status, accommodation format and ownership relationship of Oyat require a separate primary-source pass before it is counted as a fourth hotel in the corporate portfolio.

Sustainability and the Green Key

The company describes Green Key recognition at its houses and lists practical measures such as reducing single-use plastics, food waste and energy use, promoting low-impact transport and developing short supply chains. These are meaningful stated initiatives, but the exact certification scope, renewal year and measured outcomes should be checked property by property. A sustainability programme is not a substitute for environmental performance data.

The Business of Small Collections

Beauvallon demonstrates a form of luxury hospitality consolidation different from the global hotel-chain model. The group acquires existing houses and uses common ownership, investment and management to support their renewal. Its scale is small enough that the character of each address remains central to the brand. Growth brings a tension: too much standardisation would weaken the very individuality on which the collection depends.

People and Authorship

Amaury Rostagnat is the principal founder People candidate; Lucie Brindjonc is an important operator and executive author. Eric Giorgi belongs to the previous history of Villa Florentine and should be linked to that house rather than credited with founding Beauvallon. Henri Carlier and Jordan Billan are culinary People candidates for their respective restaurant chapters. Architects and designers of the renovations require further attribution from project documentation.

Classification and Cross-Links

Retain LHL-299 in Part I · Charming Small Chains / Private Hotel Collections. This is a better primary home than a large multi-brand operator volume because the collection's identity rests on a small number of historic, individually named houses. Create or verify property links for Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa, Hostellerie Briqueterie & Spa and Villa Florentine. Link restaurant and spa satellites separately, and verify People codes before assigning new numbers.

Editorial note — The 2019 foundation and acquisition sequence are supported by Beauvallon's statements, transaction coverage and company-registry data. The exact legal holding structure should be distinguished from consumer-facing branding. The current main hotel directory lists three properties, while other pages mention Oyat; the latter is not counted as a fourth operating hotel without additional verification. Hotel opening years predate Beauvallon's ownership. Restaurant awards and spa brands are property-specific and dated. The original architects, full restoration budgets and some culinary succession details remain to be researched at house level.
