1 · POSITION

Somnio proposes a residential yacht with thirty-nine private apartments, combining individual homes with shared marine services and a changing itinerary. Its published design specifies a length of 222 metres. It belongs in a history of hospitality as an announced project: a detailed proposition for living at sea whose delivery is not established by the materials reviewed here.[1, 2]

2 · A HOME WITHIN A SHIP

The project website describes apartments that can include personal kitchens, libraries, gyms and indoor and outdoor dining areas. The intended distinction is residential continuity. Owners would keep a recognisable home while the destination changes, rather than enter a newly assigned cabin for each voyage. Shared spaces would provide the facilities that an individual apartment could not reasonably contain.[1]

3 · THE PROPOSED COMMON GROUND

The design places a beach club, pool, spas, bars and outdoor lounges towards the stern, with a marina for boats and watersports equipment. These are planned amenities, not facilities inspected in use. Their arrangement shows how the proposal distributes private and collective life: apartments offer retreat, while the aft decks would gather residents around the water.[2]

4 · AN ITINERARY NEGOTIATED TOGETHER

Somnio’s promotional account envisages a route shaped by owner consensus, with flexibility built into the programme. It also identifies co-founder Captain Erik Bredhe as a former master of The World. That connection gives the concept a relevant operational reference, but experience on an existing residential ship cannot by itself establish the completion or performance of another.[1]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ An early project release forecast a mid-2024 launch. A company representative subsequently told Fortune that the date was 2027.[3, 4] These are forecasts, not delivery evidence. The developer’s “six-star” language is promotional rather than an independently verified classification. Apartment specifications describe intentions; the present record does not claim a completed ship, occupied residences or a functioning hospitality operation.[1–3]
