1 · Position

It works with children in remote wilderness areas — historically undervalued children, in its own words, meaning girls and children with disabilities — to enter, remain and progress in formal schooling. Its own account of the baseline is blunt: it often begins at zero per cent literacy, finds disabled children kept at home, and sees girls leave school pregnant at twelve.

2 · Why it is in the Library

The stated mechanism is to mirror the lodges’ direct economic investment with educational intervention — the money the house brings into a community, matched by something the money alone does not produce. It is the group’s clearest statement that economic benefit and social benefit are not the same thing and do not arrive together.

3 · Candour

⚡ The founding date was not established here. The baseline figures are the Foundation’s own and describe conditions rather than results. Education programmes funded by tourism are exposed to the same fragility as every other body in this group: they last as long as the guests come.
