1 · Opening
Core: Club opened in Manhattan in 2005 for members who had made their own money and had no interest in the committees, waiting lists and inherited codes of the London model.
2 · Why it matters
The house documents the American reinterpretation of a British form. Where Annabel's and the Arts Club rest on Mayfair addresses and a century or more of accumulated membership, Core was designed to assemble equivalent standing quickly — through programming, art, wellness facilities and a membership committee that valued achievement over introduction.
That is a genuinely different proposition, and the clubs that followed it in New York, Miami and Los Angeles are its descendants. It also predates by fifteen years the current wave of members' clubs that now competes with luxury hotels for the same guests.
3 · Signature & ritual
A full-service clubhouse — dining, wellness, screening and workspace — with a programme calendar rather than a bar as the organising principle.
4 · What this house does not solve
A club without inheritance must manufacture continuity, and continuity is the one thing that cannot be accelerated.
Programming-led membership is expensive to sustain: the calendar must justify the fee every month.
And the model it pioneered is now crowded — the New York member has a dozen options, which is precisely the situation a private club exists to avoid.

7 · LHL story
“Standing, Assembled Quickly” — London clubs took a century to become what they are. A Manhattan club opened in 2005 and set out to manufacture the same standing in a decade — which every members' club since has been trying to do faster.
