Aras Agalarov

Aras Agalarov founded Crocus Group in 1989 and developed Crocus City outside Moscow. The district combined exhibition, retail, accommodation and entertainment functions. 2 · FROM EXHIBITIONS TO A PLACE

The group’s history identifies a computer-technology exhibition among its earliest major projects, alongside clothing and footwear trading. These activities help explain the later combination of business visitors and consumer destinations. Crocus City made different reasons to visit available within one development. [1]

3 · SEVERAL USES, ONE DISTRICT

The group’s 2013 booklet describes Crocus Expo, Crocus City Mall, the Aquarium hotel, restaurants and the concert hall within its portfolio. The relevance to hospitality lies in their proximity: an exhibition visit could generate demand for food, a room or an evening event. Crocus Group also records investment in Myakinino metro station and a pedestrian bridge across the Moskva River. Those connections matter because a destination of this scale depends on access as much as on its individual attractions. ⚑ The attack and fire at Crocus City Hall on 22 March 2024 are an essential break in the venue’s history.
