Silversea invented all-inclusive at sea, and the family that founded it is already in the Library.
Position
Founded in Monaco in 1994 by the Vlasov Group and the Roman Lefebvre family — Antonio Lefebvre d’Ovidio — with Silver Cloud as the first ship. Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio is LHL-P-023, so the line and its author are both in the register and the anchor runs in the ordinary direction for once. Royal Caribbean Group has owned it since July 2020.
Why it is in the Library
It pioneered all-inclusive cruising: the fare covering drinks, gratuities and the rest, at a time when the ultra-luxury lines still itemised. That decision is the reason the hotel-brand yachts of 2022 onward could be sold as hotels rather than as ships — the fare structure had already been made to look like a room rate.
What this model does not solve
All-inclusive at a high fare compresses the operator’s margin into the fare and removes the on-board revenue that funds variety. It also transfers the line into a group whose economics are built on volume: a founder-led Monegasque company inside Royal Caribbean is a different proposition, and the Library records the change of hands rather than assessing it.
