2 · THE SHORTER AIRCRAFT KEEPS A RECLINER

The Airbus A320neo cabin is a different room. The airline lists twelve business seats there, a 43-inch pitch and a cushion width of 20.9 inches, with a recliner rather than a bed. Each seat carries an 11.6-inch personal screen. The airline states that the A320neo fleet is the world’s first narrow body fitted with the Thales Avant Gen5 in-flight entertainment system. [1, 2]

3 · THE TABLE IS HALAL AND ROTATES

All meals are halal. The airline sets out a three-course structure of appetiser, main course and dessert, with two or three mains offered, and publishes sample menus for Brunei to Kuala Lumpur and Brunei to Seoul. It states that menu options rotate regularly, so a given flight may offer different dishes. The service is described as a selection of first-class meals cooked to perfection, served with what the airline calls timeless Brunei elegance. [3]

4 · TWO ROOMS AT BRUNEI INTERNATIONAL

The Sky Lounge at Brunei International Airport has operated since 2004, with a buffet area, showers, free internet and a dedicated prayer and ablution area for Muslim guests. On 6 December 2017 the airline launched a refreshed Sky Lounge for up to 120 guests and a new Business Class Lounge for 72. Savy’s Brasserie was named caterer. Ceiling-to-floor glass walls overlook the departure hall, and the rooms carry the Ayer Muleh design and a brass piece depicting Kampung Ayer. [4, 5]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ The airline’s own pages disagree on the narrowbody: one gives the A320 a pitch of 42 to 43 inches and a 10-degree recline, the other gives the A320neo 43 inches and a recline of 10 inches. The claim to a world’s first for the Thales Avant Gen5 installation is the airline’s own. The lounge capacities come from a 2017 release and may since have changed. No cabin, seat or lounge designer is named on any page fetched. [1–5]
