Oceania Cruises

Oceania Cruises describes itself as a culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, and it puts the table rather than the deck at the centre of what it offers. Its corporate description says the line’s eight small ships carry a maximum of 1,250 guests and feature what the company registers as a trademark, The Finest Cuisine at Sea. The ships are sized so that the dining rooms, not the theatres, set the scale of a day on board. [1]

1 · POSITION

Oceania Cruises describes itself as a culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, and it puts the table rather than the deck at the centre of what it offers. Its corporate description says the line’s eight small ships carry a maximum of 1,250 guests and feature what the company registers as a trademark, The Finest Cuisine at Sea. The ships are sized so that the dining rooms, not the theatres, set the scale of a day on board. [1]

2 · A SUITE FURNISHED FROM A HOUSE CATALOGUE

In October 2018 the line announced Owner’s Suites furnished exclusively with Ralph Lauren Home and designed by the Los Angeles practice Trevor R. Howells Interior Design. Each measures more than 2,000 square feet and spans the entire beam of the ship. The rooms were specified down to their objects: a Cote D’Azure king-size bed, a Mayfair dining table under a Barrett Knurled chandelier, floor-to-ceiling windows dressed in Grimaldi-weave sail fabric. The suites debuted on Riviera in April 2019 and Marina in May 2020. [2]

3 · A CHEF’S NAME OVER A DINING ROOM

Jacques is the line’s French restaurant, named after Jacques Pépin, whom Oceania calls its first-ever executive culinary director and the founding father of its culinary philosophy. Pépin says the room opened first aboard Marina and the following year aboard Riviera. The line reprised it on Allura, cutting the ribbon in Boston on Monday 6 October 2025, and said Jacques would reach the sister ship Vista that same month. Tableside service was introduced for dishes including beef tartare. [1, 3]

4 · THE NEWEST HULL

Fincantieri delivered Oceania Allura at its Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa on 10 July 2025. The builder gives a gross tonnage of approximately 68,000 tons over a length of 246 metres, with a guest capacity of 1,200 accommodated in 600 staterooms. It describes the interiors as a blend of grand and welcoming spaces. Six hundred staterooms is the whole of the ship’s accommodation, and the figure fixes the size of the house the restaurants have to feed. [4]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ The register dates the line to 2002 and names Frank Del Rio; neither could be confirmed from the pages fetched here, and the prose carries neither. The Owner’s Suite description belongs to Riviera and Marina and must not be read across the fleet. The culinary superlative is the line’s own trademarked claim, not a finding of this entry. The 2018 release concerns two 1,250-guest ships; Allura’s 1,200 guests in 600 staterooms is the builder’s figure for a different hull. [1–4]
