1 · POSITION
In September 2024 LATAM selected RECARO Aircraft Seating to retrofit its Boeing 787 aircraft with the R7 premium mini-suite, the seat the airline sells as Premium Business. Twenty suites were specified for the 787-8 and thirty for the 787-9. The retrofit is the point at which the long-haul front cabin is described as an enclosed room rather than an open seat. Most of what is known about that room comes from the supplier. [1]
2 · HEIGHT AND A DOOR DO THE WORK
The seats were specified with an increased shell height for additional privacy and suite doors. Mark Hiller, chief executive of RECARO Aircraft Seating, said both teams had worked in close collaboration to enhance passenger comfort and privacy. Airline and supplier both state that the fit will make LATAM the first South-American based airline to offer this experience to passengers. That is a claim about precedence in a region, not about the room. [1]
3 · THE SURFACE AND THE WEIGHT
Seats are to be outfitted with customised colours and dress covers using recycled antimicrobial faux leather. The supplier calls the R7 one of the lightest business class suites certified for B787 aircraft, setting a weight argument beside a comfort one. Paulo Miranda, the group’s vice-president of customers, spoke of a design that reflects the unique essence of the LATAM Group and attention to the finest details. The material the passenger touches is named; no dimension is. [1]
4 · A NARROWBODY CABIN WITH NO SUITE IN IT
In August 2026 LATAM set out the cabin of the Embraer E195-E2, with a total of 136 seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration and up to 20 seats available in Premium Economy, which will not include blocked middle seats. Seats carry adjustable headrests and reclining backrests. LATAM Play offers more than 2,000 hours of content, including 300 movies, and LATAM Pass members are to receive complimentary onboard WiFi. LATAM Airlines Brazil was to begin operating the type during the fourth quarter of 2026. [2]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ No page published by LATAM could be reached for this entry, and both sources are the same trade publication, so the airline is quoted at second hand throughout. The 787 fit is a supplier selection, not a recorded installation: no seat pitch, width or bed length is given, and no date is set for the first fitted aircraft. The claim to regional precedence is the airline’s and the supplier’s. The narrowbody cabin and the widebody suite belong to different aircraft and must not be read together. The register’s 2012 date is not established here. [1–2]
