1 · POSITION
Korean Air put two bars on the upper deck of its Airbus A380, an aircraft a trade account describes as the first to dedicate the top deck entirely to one class. The aft Celestial Bar was staffed full time with a bartender, and at the cost of around three seating rows. The forward lounge includes a four-person sofa with built-in side tables and reading lamps, beside a self-service Absolut-themed bar. Heath Tecna created both, sponsored by Absolut Vodka. [3]
2 · THE SEAT NARROWS AND ACQUIRES A DOOR
On the same aircraft the Kosmo Suite boasts 83in pitch and 27in width, while the business-class model, the Prestige Sleeper from B/E Aerospace, was configured at 74in pitch and 21.6in width. The seat reported as its successor is Prestige Suites 2.0, a forward-facing staggered doored mini-suite with high walls. It is given a staggered seat pitch of 46 inches, a seat 21 inches wide, dividers of 52 inches and a bed of 78.2 to 79.2 inches. [3, 4]
3 · THE TABLE IS EXPLICITLY NATIONAL
Korean Air states that its menu features signature Korean dishes served exclusively on Korean Air, and names bibimbap, braised mackerel, ssambap, acorn mukbap and buckwheat bibim noodles. The airline says its premium wine selection was curated through blind tasting by Marc Almert. Meals may be pre-ordered from 21 days up to 24 hours before departure. The airline notes that available services vary by route, time of day, season and aircraft type. [1]
4 · THE GROUND IS ORGANISED IN TIERS
On the ground the airline lists three named rooms: the Korean Air First Class Lounge, the Prestige Class Lounge and the Korean Air Miler Club Lounge. Lounges are listed at Gimpo, Incheon, Busan and Jeju, at Nagoya, Tokyo Narita and Fukuoka, and at New York, Los Angeles and Honolulu. Where a First Class Lounge is unavailable, First Class passengers may use the Prestige Class Lounge. Food and beverages are for consumption within the lounge only. [2]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ The bars and the Kosmo Suite are described by a trade account of the Airbus A380 and must not be read as the present fleet. Prestige Suites 2.0 was reported as due to debut on 25 July aboard the Boeing 787-10 between Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita; that is a scheduled date, and the source did not confirm the seat’s manufacturer. The same report gives the monitor as both 23.8 and 24 inches. The register’s 1969 founding year is not established here. [1–4]
