1 · POSITION
Kenya Airways calls its forward cabin Premier World. On the Boeing 787-8 the airline states thirty Premier World seats against 204 in Economy, and a seat pitch of 75 inches at the front against 32 inches behind. Its own description of the cabin works through posture rather than mechanism, inviting the passenger to stretch out and find a position, or to settle into a space that is their own. [1, 2]
2 · A CABIN DESCRIBED WITHOUT DIMENSIONS
Beyond pitch, the pages consulted give no seat width, no recline angle and no bed length. Audio and video on demand is listed for both cabins, with no screen size attached to it. The airline speaks instead of comfort, rest and peace of mind, and of staff who embody what it calls the genuine smiles of the African people. Where a flat bed would ordinarily be claimed, nothing is claimed. [1, 2]
3 · THE MEAL FOLLOWS THE LENGTH OF THE FLIGHT
Premier World catering is set by sector length. Short sectors carry snacks, and a hot light meal with a main course and dessert follows on medium ones. The airline serves two meals on sectors of six to eleven hours and three above eleven, in each case depending on the hour of the day. Boarding begins with a glass of fine champagne or water, and on the longer flights the meals are plated by the flight attendant rather than handed over sealed. [3]
4 · FOUR LOUNGES AT ONE AIRPORT
At Nairobi the airline runs Pride, Simba, Asante and Msafiri. Pride is set out as an expansive, circular layout overlooking the airside, with live cooking stations, a business centre and a napping area. Simba occupies Terminal 1A and holds a private VIP room let by the hour. Asante, in Terminal 1C, carries showers with amenity kits and towels. Economy passengers may buy entry by the hour, while a Business boarding card admits without charge. [4]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ The seat figures belong to the Boeing 787-8 alone and should not be read across other types. No page fetched for this entry states that Premier World lies flat, so no such claim is made here. The lounge page gives operating hours of 0500 to 0001 and also says Asante runs twenty-four hours a day; the two statements are left unreconciled. The register’s founding year of 1977 was not confirmed by any Kenya Airways page fetched. [1–4]
