JetBlue introduced Mint in 2014 with a premium cabin that contained sixteen flat-bed seats, four of them private suites with doors. This was a specific intervention in the airline's service: a place to sleep, and in selected seats a way to close oneself off, within a carrier familiar to passengers for a different kind of proposition. 2 · PRIVACY WAS INITIALLY SELECTIVE
The original layout alternated paired seats with individual suites. Consequently, buying Mint secured a flat bed but did not automatically secure a door. That distinction explains the product more clearly than describing the entire first generation as suites: passengers in the same named cabin could occupy substantially different arrangements of personal space. 3 · A NEW ARRANGEMENT IN 2021
JetBlue's February 2021 redesign made the door standard across twenty-four Mint suites in the announced transatlantic configuration. Developed with Acumen around the Thompson VantageSOLO seat, it adapted an individual suite arrangement to a single-aisle aircraft. Two larger Mint Studios added another degree of space, including a guest seat usable during cruise. [2]
4 · MAKING THE BED USABLE
The redesign also brought Tuft & Needle into the sleep experience. Bedding is significant because a mechanically flat seat alone does not settle questions of softness, temperature or how comfortably a traveller can rest. Mint's current presentation retains the distinction between classic seats and newer suites, making the aircraft configuration part of the passenger's accommodation choice. [2, 3]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ Mint is available on defined services, rather than across every JetBlue flight. Its successive layouts should not be collapsed into one timeless specification, and an announced competitive fare is not proof of a permanent price advantage. The documented contribution is the development of differentiated sleeping accommodation within JetBlue's operation; comparative superiority requires evidence beyond the airline's own presentation.
