Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines fitted doors to both of its forward cabins on one aircraft type. The airline’s October 2023 account of the Airbus A350-1000, which it describes as its new flagship for international service after nearly 20 years, lists six First Class suites and 54 Business Class seats, each entered through a door. JAL states that doors were introduced for the first time to ensure privacy. Privacy, rather than recline, is the term in which the cabin is explained. [1]

1 · POSITION

Japan Airlines fitted doors to both of its forward cabins on one aircraft type. The airline’s October 2023 account of the Airbus A350-1000, which it describes as its new flagship for international service after nearly 20 years, lists six First Class suites and 54 Business Class seats, each entered through a door. JAL states that doors were introduced for the first time to ensure privacy. Privacy, rather than recline, is the term in which the cabin is explained. [1]

2 · THE DIMENSIONS OF THE BUSINESS SUITE

The Business Class suite is given as approximately 132cm of wall height, approximately 130cm of seat pitch, a maximum width of approximately 56cm and a maximum bed length of approximately 198cm. Safran Seats GB is named as the manufacturer and the individual monitor is 24 inches. An electric privacy partition is listed among the features. First Class is set out separately, with a 43-inch monitor and a bed length of approximately 203cm. [1]

3 · THE TABLE IS REDESIGNED BEFORE THE MENU

JAL said the design firm nendo would supervise the design of new tableware for inflight meals, a change set for spring 2024 and intended to move away from new petroleum-derived plastic. Reusable dishes and cutlery bags were to use plant-derived materials. Vegan and vegetarian menus were to be renewed under the supervision of Fumio Yonezawa. The announcement treats the meal as an object and as a recipe at the same time. [1]

4 · WHAT IS LENT, GIVEN AND POURED

Business Class passengers were offered a lending service for relaxing wear jointly developed with UCHINO, while First Class kept organic cotton wear. Amenity kits carry the artwork of contracted artists of Heralbony, an art licensing social enterprise founded in 2018 in the northeastern prefecture of Iwate; a trade account records six versions, so that inbound and outbound flights can differ. At Haneda, the First Class Lounge added an exclusive hand-drip coffee service and resumed shoe polishing. [1, 2]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ Every dimension here belongs to the A350-1000 and must not be read across the fleet. The headphone-free headrest stereo is JAL’s own claim, not a finding of this entry. The same release describes Premium Economy both as a fixed-back mechanism and as electrically reclining; both statements are recorded rather than reconciled. The amenity-kit detail comes from a trade report, not from JAL. The register’s 1951 founding year is not established by these pages. [1–2]
