1 · POSITION

On 23 December 2022 Iberia set out a long-haul cabin in which a new door gives each business customer a more private personal space. Every seat has direct access to the aisle, and the bed is five centimetres longer than the one it replaced. The central pairs, which the airline calls honeymoon seats, are divided by an automatic screen. The announcement is written around the enclosure rather than the recline. [1]

2 · THE CABIN IS LIT AND LABELLED

Six lighting environments are listed for the aircraft. The number of each seat is projected onto the aisle floor so that it can be found in the dark. The entertainment system, developed with Panasonic and named IFE Next, is fitted with screens of twelve to thirteen inches in Premium Economy and ten to twelve in Economy. Lavatories are given antibacterial surfaces and contactless taps. [1]

3 · THE LOUNGE IS DRESSED FOR A PLACE

Iberia’s Premium Lounge Velázquez stands in the satellite building of Terminal 4 at Madrid and serves Business and top-tier customers travelling to intercontinental destinations. In December 2022, and again from 28 November 2023, the airline dressed it for Lanzarote, serving papas arrugadas with mojo picón, sancocho with gofio and cod, Tofio cheese and ropa vieja. The 2022 staging added a small garden of cacti and aloe. [2, 3]

4 · THE TABLE WAS AN EARLY CONCERN

The company’s own timeline records that by 1951 a select group of chefs prepared each meal, poured syrup on the cakes and readied the trays, and that by 1955 Iberia ran a laundry to wash, iron and fold all the tablecloths and napkins used on its flights. Female attendants were incorporated on 22 September 1946, in military-style uniform. In 1928 ten passengers travelled on wicker seats. [4]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ The December 2022 release describes an aircraft being delivered, not a cabin installed across the fleet; nothing fetched here shows how many aircraft now carry the door. The Lanzarote dressings were temporary and dated, and are not the lounge’s standing offer. The timeline is the company’s account of itself and is internally inconsistent in its 1927 section. Its founding date of 28 June 1927 agrees with the register’s note. [1–4]
