Greenpoint sits beside Boeing in Seattle and has spent thirty years turning its wide-bodies into houses, most recently by putting live plants in them.
Position
A Safran company based in Seattle with three decades of VVIP completions behind it, including delivered BBJ 787 interiors. Its Affinity wide-body concept uses biophilic design — organic materials, live green feature walls, nature displayed on large OLED screens, and lighting timed to circadian rhythm.
Why it is in the Library
The direction of travel is the entry. Greenpoint reports clients shifting toward health and wellness in the cabin: humidification, noise reduction, steam showers, dedicated gyms, touchless surfaces, anti-microbial finishes. That is a spa brief, written for an aircraft, and it arrived in private aviation from hospitality rather than the other way round — which is the whole argument for Part VIII existing.
What this model does not solve
Live plants and high humidity in a pressurised cabin are engineering problems before they are design ones, and the Library has no way to assess how the concepts perform in service. ⚑ Affinity is a concept, not a delivered aircraft.
