Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways’ Airbus A350-900 carries 33 lie-flat business class seats built on the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond platform. They are arranged one-two-one, so that every seat reaches an aisle without passing another, and the bed is reported at 2.2 metres. The platform is an industry one, shared with other carriers. What distinguishes the cabin, on the accounts available, is what is poured in it and the room that precedes it. [1]

1 · POSITION

Fiji Airways’ Airbus A350-900 carries 33 lie-flat business class seats built on the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond platform. They are arranged one-two-one, so that every seat reaches an aisle without passing another, and the bed is reported at 2.2 metres. The platform is an industry one, shared with other carriers. What distinguishes the cabin, on the accounts available, is what is poured in it and the room that precedes it. [1]

2 · TWO ACCOUNTS OF ONE SCREEN

The entertainment screen is worked by a wired remote, and its size is not agreed between accounts: one measures it at 18 inches, the other at 15.6. Noise-cancelling headphones are supplied and were judged of high quality. Free wi-fi is limited to fifteen minutes of text, with paid plans beyond that. The seat is also described as offering back support, a leg rest and a massage function. [1, 2]

3 · THE TABLE AND THE BOTTLE

The welcome pour is orange juice or Cattier Brut Icône champagne, with two whites and two reds listed alongside. One morning service offered scrambled eggs with potato rosti, chocolate pancakes and a spinach parmesan frittata; another account describes Western and Fijian-inspired dishes and a cocktail the airline calls Island Time. The amenity kit, holding Pure Fiji skincare, socks, eyeshades, earplugs and a dental kit, is carried on longer flights only. [1, 2]

4 · THE PREMIER LOUNGE AT NADI

On the ground at Nadi the airline keeps the Premier Lounge. It is reported as holding a well-stocked all-day bar and buffet, a kids club and shower facilities, and as sitting in the heart of the terminal with no natural light or view. A second account found the room modern, spacious and well equipped, and the chef willing to make toasties that were not on the menu. Crew on board are described as roaming the cabin offering assistance and drink top-ups. [1, 2]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ No page published by Fiji Airways could be retrieved for this entry; everything above comes from two travel-press accounts of single flights, which are observations and not the airline’s published specification. The two disagree on screen size, and both figures are recorded rather than averaged. The dimensions belong to the Airbus A350-900 and not to the A330 fleet. The date the A350 entered service, the cabin’s designer and the register’s founding year of 1951 could not be established. [1–2]
