Dassault competes on the width of the room, which is the most honestly hospitality-shaped argument anyone in aviation makes.
Position
The Falcon 6X entered service on 30 November 2023 with the widest purpose-built business jet cabin in existence at 2.58 metres — a figure Dassault leads with. The 10X, launched in May 2021 and now expected to deliver in 2027, goes further: a 16.4-metre four-zone cabin, 2.77 metres wide, with windows half again the size of the Falcon 8X’s and the same 3,000-foot cabin altitude at cruise.
Why it is in the Library
Four zones is a floor plan, not a seating chart, and the language Dassault uses to sell it is the language of rooms. The 10X also keeps the steep-approach capability that lets a Falcon into London City, which is a hospitality decision disguised as a certification one: it determines whether the guest lands in the city or an hour outside it.
⚑ What it took to get here
The 6X exists because its predecessor failed. The Falcon 5X was launched in 2013 and rolled out in 2015, but its Safran Silvercrest engine did not meet its performance targets and the programme was frozen after first flight in 2017. The 6X is the stretched replacement with different engines. The Library records the failure because the industry markets only the successor.
What this model does not solve
The 10X was originally scheduled for 2025 and is now 2027, having first flown in June 2026 — a two-year slip on a 75-million-dollar aircraft. Cabin width is also a claim about the empty tube; what a passenger occupies is decided later, by the completion houses in this same volume.
