Capital Group is a Moscow property developer. RBC, reporting in November 2016, wrote that it "was founded by Vladislav Doronin in 1991" and counted "more than 70 completed, under-construction and planned" projects of over 7 million square metres. By September 2026 RBC put the portfolio at more than 11 million square metres. Its Capital Towers on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment, three residential towers, received a commissioning permit on 28 April 2023. Its record in hotels is two announcements, of which neither is established here as a working hotel. [1,2]
Three Shareholders, One Chair
RBC states that "in 1993–1994 Eduard Berman and Pavel Tyo became shareholders of the company". In November 2016 Tyo was elected chairman in Doronin's place, which RBC called the first change of leadership "since 1991". A 2008 report, as summarised by Wikipedia, had the three men holding equal interests at the end of 2007; registry extracts of 20 August 2026 show Tyo holding 80% of the company above Capital Group LLC. The Delano That Was Withdrawn
On 21 August 2012 The Moscow Times reported that Morgans Hotel Group "will open a hotel in Moscow in 2015": a Delano in Capital Group's OKO project in the Moscow-City business district. On 23 September 2014 Vedomosti reported that Morgans would not operate the 160-room Delano aparthotel. Capital Group's representative, Dinara Lizunova, said the parties had "reached a mutual decision to end cooperation on the OKO project", citing "the current political and economic situation, including the sanctions". A CBRE consultant added that a Delano belonged nearer Tverskaya or Arbat than Moscow-City. Morgans declined to comment. [3,4]
Mandarin Oriental On Sofiyskaya Embankment
On 26 September 2018 Mandarin Oriental announced that it would manage a hotel of 65 rooms and suites and 137 branded residences on Sofiyskaya embankment, across the river from the Kremlin, owned by Capital Group and expected to open in 2021. In January 2019 the project was 30–35% built; Tyo said the top penthouse would be priced at US$100,000 per square metre, a Russian record. In October 2020 RBC described the quarter as nearing completion. A Moscow property database now marks all four buildings "сдан" (delivered), at the stage of key handover and occupancy, and the residences sold out. The same page speaks of the hotel, in restored mansions, only as a future opening. [5,6,7,8]
Editorial note — ⚑ The founding year is disputed: RBC gives 1991 and Doronin alone; Forbes, as Wikipedia reports it, gives 1993 and all three men as founders. The surname is spelt Tyo, Tio and Te in sources read. ⚑ The residence count varies: 137 in 2018, 139 by RBC's 2020 breakdown, 145 on the database page. ⚑ The withdrawal of the Delano is dated by the Vedomosti report, not by any agreement read. ⚑ Nothing read establishes that the Mandarin Oriental hotel has opened; the register treats it as announced only. The neighbouring Zolotoy quarter, 126 apartments, borrows its spa and pool. [2,7,8,9]
