1 · POSITION
Azerbaijan Airlines describes its Business Class through recline rather than through a bed. Its own page offers more personal space for work and relaxation, seats with extra leg room and with wide-angle recline. No flat bed is claimed anywhere on that page. The premium cabin is therefore presented as a better chair, and the weight of the offer is carried by the table, the kit and the room on the ground. [1]
2 · THE TABLE AND THE KIT
Special meals may be ordered in advance, at least 24 hours before departure. The drinks the airline names run to champagne, whisky and wine beside non-alcoholic choices and hot drinks in flight. On long-haul services a travel kit of hygiene and cosmetic products is issued. Children are provided for separately, with a soft toy up to the age of six and a children’s kit between six and ten. [1]
3 · A ROOM OF 215 SQUARE METRES
A lounge for the airline’s business class passengers opened on 25 April 2012 in the North Terminal of Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Its reported total area was 215 square metres and it could serve up to 40 business-class passengers at once. The bar was described as the main decoration of the lounge. Meals suitable for lunch were offered, with snacks of national and European kitchen, and a private room was set aside for quiet or for meetings. [2]
4 · THE TERMINAL MOVED
A new air terminal complex at the same airport was opened in April 2014, holding cafes, restaurants, business halls, interactive kiosks and a children’s playground. Flights to Ankara and Moscow began from it on Thursday 24 April. The airline today directs Business Class passengers to the AZAL Lounge in Terminal 1 of the airport. The lounge of 2012 and the lounge named now are not shown by these pages to be the same room. [1, 3]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
⚑ The 215 square metres and the figure of 40 passengers are reported of the 2012 room and should not be read as current. Whether that room became the Terminal 1 lounge is not established here. The description of the seat is the airline’s own and does not establish a flat bed on any aircraft type. Nothing fetched for this entry addresses the register’s founding year of 1992. [1–3]
