1 · POSITION
Arab International Hotels Company was established in Jordan in 1975 and signed an agreement with Marriott in 1976. Its Amman hotel received its first guests in January 1982. The sequence distinguishes three acts often compressed into a brand’s opening story: forming the investment company, appointing an international operator and opening the building. [1, 2]
2 · THE OWNER BEHIND MARRIOTT
The company’s hotel in Amman gives its otherwise unfamiliar corporate name a concrete address. Marriott supplied the operating identity recognised by the guest; the Jordanian company supplied the ownership structure behind that identity. The 2020 audited financial statements record the hotel and management agreement, providing a documentary basis beyond the company’s retrospective account. [2]
3 · INVESTMENT BEYOND AMMAN
In 1995, Arab International Hotels Company led a group of investors in establishing Business Tourism Company. BTC developed the Petra Marriott and Jordan Valley Marriott properties. This extended the investment relationship from the capital towards two different destinations, while retaining a separate corporate vehicle for the additional hotels. [1, 3]
4 · READING THE STRUCTURE
The distinction affects how the hotels should be understood. A shared Marriott name does not make their owning companies identical, and an investment in another company does not erase that company’s existence. Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea can be connected through capital and commercial relationships while remaining separate properties with separately documented ownership. [1–3]
5 · ⚑ CANDOUR
Arab International Hotels Company did not simply become Business Tourism Company. BTC’s own history identifies it as an affiliate established in 1995. The earlier company continues to have its own identity. The financial statements cited here describe 2020; they support the historical structure and agreement, not an assumed current percentage for every investment. [2, 3]
