Air Serbia

Air Serbia dates itself to Aeroput, established in Belgrade in June 1927. Its own timeline runs through Yugoslav Airlines from 1947 and Jat Airways from 2003 to the present name, which the company says it has used since October 2013. The airline records 1967 as the year JAT launched a catering service of its own, later used by Air France as well. Hospitality enters this chronology as a kitchen before it enters as a cabin. [1]

1 · POSITION

Air Serbia dates itself to Aeroput, established in Belgrade in June 1927. Its own timeline runs through Yugoslav Airlines from 1947 and Jat Airways from 2003 to the present name, which the company says it has used since October 2013. The airline records 1967 as the year JAT launched a catering service of its own, later used by Air France as well. Hospitality enters this chronology as a kitchen before it enters as a cabin. [1]

2 · EIGHTEEN SEATS THAT LIE DOWN

The wide-body cabin was described on 9 June 2016, when the Airbus A330 was put on short regional flights. The 254-seat jet carried 18 seats in business class and 236 seats in economy, with inflight entertainment systems at every seat. The airline described business class seats that recline into a fully-horizontal sleeping position. Its own timeline adds a second A330-200 in 2022 and a third in 2024. [1, 2]

3 · A MENU WRITTEN BY THE CATERER

New menus were introduced on 1 September 2016, designed by Zoran Mišković, Head Chef at Air Serbia Catering. Business Class mains included lamb cutlets served with pistachio crisps and duck served with a wild berry sauce. The wine list was chosen with the Serbian Sommelier Association, and five types of rakia were carried, provided exclusively by Rakia Bar. The à la carte options were offered in Business Class on flights to or from New York. [3]

4 · THE LOUNGE BETWEEN GATES A5 AND A6

A Premium Lounge opened at Belgrade on 9 September 2015, located in the transit area between gates A5 and A6. It is set over an area of 398 square metres with seating for 80 guests. There are spacious bathrooms with shower facilities, à la carte dining or a self-service buffet of Serbian and international cooking, business workstations and multi-faith prayer areas. Business Class passengers and three tiers of Etihad Guest members may use it. [4]

5 · ⚑ CANDOUR

⚑ The cabin, the menu and the lounge described here were published between 2015 and 2016, and this entry does not establish what is installed or served now. The fully-horizontal sleeping position is the airline’s own description, and the 18-seat count belongs to one A330 configuration at that date. The 2016 regional A330 flights were a stated exception, not the aircraft’s ordinary use. The 1927 founding and the chronology that follows it are the company’s own account of itself. [1–4]
